A 16-year-old Michigan girl is in police custody in the Middle East after she tried a to visit a man she met on a the popular website myspace.com. Katherine Lester got on plane to the Middle East Monday to visit a man whose Myspace account says he is a 25 year old from Jericho.

US officials stopped Lester Thursday night in Jordan on her way to Israel. Lester told her parents she was going to Canada. Authorities are investigating the teen's departure and confiscated the Lesters' home computer as part of the probe. An FBI spokesman declined to provide any details and would not comment on the man's identity or background.

She was about to go into hell. An infidel teenager in the middle east. Either she was going to become a sex slave, prostitute or be married to a muslim (4th wife) who would beat her everyday until she converted...

That was my first thought when I heard it this AM. And she'd recently talked her mom into getting her a passport to go with friends to Canada. Did mom not bother checking with these supposed friends' parents concerning their vacation plans???

Thankfully, there are no Internet child predators that live in the United States.

"I am VERY curious to know the parent's side of this story."

No kidding. Probably had full net access in her bedroom un-monitored at all.

Don't you need a passport to fly out of the country?

This AM, FNC reported the parents claimed the girl left in the middle of the night with her backpack. Apparently the note she left was in the same tone as the usual, "off to the store, be back later. love ya!".

Just another reason to keep the computer in the family room in full view of everyone and run a keystroke program for back up.

On Fox Radio News they said that the kid told her mom she needed a passport to go to Canada.

Lester told her parents she was going to Canada

This is just unbelievable! Did her parents think she was 36 and not 16, or what???? I have a 16 year old male. NO WAY would he be getting on a plane without my knowing every single detail and having verified every step of the trip myself personally. And then, there would have to be a trusted relative on the other end of the flight to collect the kid. Unbelievable.

No kidding. Probably had full net access in her bedroom un-monitored at all.

That has little to do with the fact that they allowed her to fly off ANYWHERE unchecked...US or elsewhere to get abducted, held hostage, raped, enslaved, other.

This 16-year old girl ended up in the Middle East.
