People don't seem to know how to cook any more. We have a neighbor with a six year old child, and when we had them over for dinner, the woman seemed astounded by a simple roast chicken. She'd never done an entire chicken before.

My sis and I used to have friends over for lunch when we were in grammer school and were allowed to go home for lunch (couldn't leave the building in high school!) and my mom would be at work so we just through some PB & Fluff together. When they reciprocated their moms would be making hot lunches! Wow, did I feel silly. Loved that Fluff though. Ever eat it w/ a Pepsi? It was like Pop Rocks.

You've got that right. I have a good friend that drives me absolutely nuts about not being able to cook. I told her that if it kills me, she will learn to cook this summer, before our girls go back to school in September.

One day one neighborhood girl was watching me make mashed potatoes, you know, boiling them in a pot on the stove. In all innocence she looks at me and says *Why don't you make them the normal way; in the microwave?" It's so hard to keep a straight face sometimes.
