Coulter won't apologize for slamming 9/11 widows

...a town where a dozen roadways are named in honor of those who died that day, few took to New York Avenue to protest the bookstore signing of the conservative author.

Instead, a defiant Coulter was met with more than 300 spirited fans at an event broadcast live to hundreds of radio stations by conservative commentator -- and Huntington Town resident -- Sean Hannity.

Huntington Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson, publicly rebuked her as he handed over a letter. "I'm here on behalf of many of my constituents. We are disgusted with your comments," he said, drawing hoots from the crowd.

Coulter ripped up the letter to the cheers of her admirers, an action Cuthberston later said shows she is "promoting hate speech."

Yes, I think the most principled "small l" libertarians have tended to be Republicans-- Milton Friedman being one of many examples. The people who have best articulated those principles since Friedman have tended to be conservatives such as Thomas Sowell. It's a shame that some "libertarians" have decided their biggest opponents are not the left and its Democratic Party exemplars, but rather conservatives like Ann.

And here I thought the Republican party was the party of of "no child left behind", massively increasing spending, and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Then you thought wrong. Using your logic, America itself would rightly be described as the country of welfarism, legally enforced racism and corporatism via tariffs, anti-trust and the rest. And so it is... Compared to Heaven, America is no doubt a dung heap. Compared to other nations, it is a shining star, a city on the hill. So, too with the Republican Party... Which is why Ronald Reagan set out to reform it rather than join or start some third party that would have given Jimmy Carter a second term as Teddy Roosevelt's foolish challenge led to the election of Woodrow Wilson.

"I'm here because I consider Ann Coulter the most evil woman in America," Weintraub said. "She says Jews are responsible for the Holocaust. ... This woman is just plain sick."

I'm thinking he should call himself stupid, big Dave.

It's about time people started standing up to the idiocy. I'm glad she tore up the letter - it's nothing but a distraction from the real points made in her book. Not every little 'nuance' deserves a response, not every little pipsqueak deserves a stage. Hillary, by refusing to discuss the rape charges surrounding her husband did the equivalent of tearing up the letter years ago. It's easy to ignore the truth when the lies get all the attention.

Actually I beleive I'm right. Other than a few token tax cuts Republicans aren't all that different than Democrats. They have gone on a spending spree that would have embarrassed Bill Clinton

Using your logic, America itself would rightly be described as the country of welfarism, legally enforced racism and corporatism via tariffs, anti-trust and the rest. And so it is

As you say. However when you say

Compared to other nations, it is a shining star, a city on the hill. So, too with the Republican Party.

your logic fails. just because the Republicans are marginally better than the Democrats is no reason to wholeheartedly embrace them. And a third party strategy works wonders. Ralph Nader forced the Democrats much farther to the left by being a spoiler.

Ancient societies did some things very right. The traditional year of mourning was one of those things.

Memories so far as I know are not going to go away. Therefore, the imperative is to have a respectful and acceptable period of mourning. A year is about right.

After that, there are no excuses.
Get on with your life.

She's not analyzing. She's advocating a very specific point of view.

City folks!

My mama was the last to be born on the farm--then they all moved to Church Hill.

I learned to love the land from my grandfather. Church Hill was not for him. He put out 120 tomato plants the summer before he died at the ripe age of 92. Hanover tomatoes - if anyone has never had the priviledge of eating a Hanover tomato, well, I pity them.

You must be more gentle with those whose sensitive constitutions are not capable of absorbing the finer points of political trench warfare, of which Coulter is a master! ( LOL)

If you look at what happens in England in parliamentary debate, you will see that Coulter has other companions in the World of politics. Also there have been times when in America, there have been episodes of political trench warfare, the Swiftboat veterans and their successful expose of Kerry is but one example, which saved our nation.

Anne should be conducting workshops on political trench warfare for the Republican caucuses, in both the senate and the house. These weak-kneed old boys need some testosterone, and what better person to invoke it than a sexy ectomorph who wields a razor sharp, two edged sword.

They could even be held in secret.

Anne Coulter is the sexiest, strongest and most dedicated conservative in our nation. She is an excellent example on how to aggressively attack Democrats on their own weak- kneed, Utopian culture which would destroy America, if we but let them. She therefore is a source of unerring hope , a beacon in a wasteland of politically challenged consensualists (RINOs) willing to sell out our traditions of freedom for a few pieces of silver. Coulter crucifies them without apology, screws them in every possible position, 6 ways to sideways. She is a walking , talking version of a political karma sutra on how to screw democrats, make them pregnant, and have them liking it in the end ( no pun intended). That is why Democrats are both magnetized and repulsed by her at the same time. Many of we Conservatives would marry her in a New York minute, and she knows it.

Love you Anne, keep hitting them hard , and often. Look after yourself, and know that we true, fighting conservatives are with you, even if you don't need us!

I love Ann too but your use of the mixed metaphor "karma sutra" conjures up a lot of visions (eeek!), especially where she says she had/s a Muslim BF.

Wack job is being too kind, but we'll go with that description for the time being.

Good post

Democrats on their own weak- kneed, Utopian culture which would destroy America, if we but let them. She therefore is a source of unerring hope

A couple of nights ago I did something I normally never do - watched the beginning of Letterman One of his guests was Al Franken In his monologue he mentioned Franken's name to much cheering and applause of the audience. He then mentioned Coulter's name not much reaction and that was negative with a boo or two. My point being is that in liberal cesspools like NYC the vast majority of the population is just like the 4 hags - left wing liberals and we need people like Coulter to puncture their smug self satisfied ignorance/stupidity

I'm certain that if you asked her if she was biased, she'd answer truthfully and in the affirmative. I suspect she'd take it as an insult to be labeled "impartial."

In regards to her rhetoric being logical, reasonable and based in critical observation -- those attributes also define advocacy as well as analysis. Lawyers use just such tools every day to make their cases.

Advocacy isn't a dirty word. Our entire legal system is based on advocacy. I would say that two guys fighting it out using the based available facts and logic to make their case is the best way to get at the truth.

Just like the 'Dirty Dozen' of WWII, she's doing a job no one else has the courage (and probably the ability) to take on.

She's willing to take shot's from the Lib's and the likes of your kind at the same time, while completing a dirty job with gusto.

Anyone with the most minuscule cognizance of recent history and pop culture knows that Ann Coulter’s intelligence and wit are what is most needed at this desperate hour. “Whack job” applies to those who speak untruths deliberately or out ignorance or deliberately.

Outspoken Coulter well-armed with courage of conviction!
How provocative she is!

It's obvious as hell that the "Jersey-Four" widows are willing fools and propped icons.
