Dateline: Greensboro, NC
American Idol star Chris Daughtry returned for a coming home celebration in McLeansville, North Carolina. On Saturday, June 3, he performed a few songs at the McLeansville shopping center and then with his band ABSENT ELEMENT at Jamieson Stadium in Greensboro.
But there is a part of the story that you probably didn't read. The show was hosted on stage by CLASSIC ROCK 92, an FM station in Greensboro.
Among the announcements made by the DJs was that they would be giving away tickets to the upcoming concert by the Dixie Chicks. When that announcement was made, there was substantial booing from the crowd. It was a pleasure to be there in person and hear it. Greensboro says no to fifth columnists.
How did Chris do? I was rooting for him on Idol but the look on his face when he was booted off was priceless!
I would accept the tickets and tear them up in front of everyone!
Every story I read about the Dixie Chicks mentions their show tickets being given away.
I guess that's one way to fill an arena.
I was just on the GAC website looking for a re-showing of the ACM awards show I never manage to see all of and one of the headlines was the Dixie Chick concert ticket sales were disappointing. NOT to me!
The part of the ACM show I did see, Reba McEntire was saying how she was nervous about being an emcee but if the Dixie Chicks could sing with a foot in their mouth, she should be fine. It got a lot of laughs.
fifth column n. A clandestine subversive organization working within a country to further an invading enemy's military and political aims.
But if you had to waste your time and gas money to pick them up? Tearing up their tickets is so energy wasting (the hand and wrist movement).
:)
"I'm going to run to CNN and wait for them to have this story on the air..how long do you think I should wait??"
Wait until after the Breaking News Announcement that's coming up shortly. It has been revealed that Bill Clinton is entering a Monastery to become a priest.
We don't hear about the backlash from the MSM, instead we hear about the Chicks' hyped #1 placement on the charts.
HERE HERE
So they can't even give tickets away.
Sorry Libs, buying up their album won't make people accept them. We're aware of the usual tricks to make someone seem hot, when they are decidely not.
BTW, how was Chris? :-)
We met him at the press conference and got a few pictures. Chris is the real deal -- a genuine good guy. I hope to have a few freelance articles placed soon about him.
The correct answer is to sell them on eBay and give the money to a military charity.
FM stations always have a few tickets to give away when a concert is coming to town.
kewl!
I read on another thread that the Dixie Pigs were faced with postponing and even cancelling parts of their upcoming tour due to slow ticket sales.
"The correct answer is to sell them on eBay and give the money to a military charity."
I LOVE it!!
A great offer, but I'm a vegetarian. :)
Chris was offered the job with Fuel after they heard him do HEMORRHAGE on Idol. He announced that he was doing his own thing and turned down the offer. A week and a half ago he was at a Pearl Jam concert in New York and had meetings he could not discuss. The rumors are flying that he signed a contract.
