The Jordanian-born Zarqawi was killed when U.S. warplanes dropped 500-pound bombs on his hiding place. Pentagon officials say they later found a "treasure trove" of material at the hiding place, which they believe will help in future operations.

I hope they cross-reference all the telephone numbers they'll find against the NSA database to find terrorist here and around the world.
Want to start a betting pool to see if Kerry or Murtha or Kennedy's numbers are in Al-Zarqawi's database? ;-)

There were also 17-20 other areas they raided just after smokin Z. They had held off until they got their man. Yeah, I'd guess there is a lot of good intel here and it will help them roll up a lot of people. Mybe even some in the US.

Hopefully, the information-bearing materials were not in the immediate vicinity of the bomb blast, and thus recoverable in full.

I think they are very good at recovering data these days. even a badly smashed hard drive probably can produce useful data.

How many dead bodies were in that place when they were sent to hell?
You gotta figure that Zarq wasn't there to give a pep rally to the Ladies of Death Knitting Society. That must have been a pretty big chunk of the regional and possibly national leadership on the way to hell with him.
Then there are the goodies they are gathering on top of that.
The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that this is really going to put a damper on the Jihadista scum there. I'll bet there are a lot of mid-level scum-suckers who are sweating and running for the Syrian border right now.

The first thing my Marine said to me while we were watching footage of the rubble was "I hope they find hard drives, there's gold in that mess".

If the damage to his face is anything to go by, they can retrieve quite a bit of what was around him.

O'Reilly had Col. David Hunt on the show tonight and he said the operation was a huge success because of getting Zarq and the other 17 or so ops and intel we got from them.
I'll bet terrorists are fleeing the Baghdad area like rats leaving a sinking ship right now.

I don't know if they would be so politically inept as to let their phone numbers be in a know terrorist's database. They had to know he would be found eventually.
However, I do want to know what media personal he was cosying up to. That kind of information will not probably be made public, however if it is used to blackmail some members of our illustrious fourth estate into either actually balancing their news reports or into giving up their terrorist sources I will be overjoyed.

I'm also guessing that they're killing each other wondering who was the insider that gave him away and if there are more who would rather retire in wealth than go down in flames. With any luck, they'll kill off a number of their own group out for us.

Good point and you're probably right. It would make for a huge amount of distrust among the group. Couldn't happen to a better group. LOL!

Depends on how badly smashed. If explosion welded into something else, and heated in the process, too, then I could see some difficulties.
