Another example of liberal censorship.
Already long ago, the liberals used censorship to try to silence conservative speakers on campus. But let somebody object to a porn book aimed at children, and these same people scream "censorship."

You must admit Ann Coulter sure knows how to hit liberal hot buttons, which is not a bad thing. I have yet to buy one of her books, as the book length writings of modern celebrity conservatives, William Bennett and Michael Medved excepted, is usually mediocre and is ghostwritten in some cases. Many conservatives of the previous generation like William Buckley, Russell Kirk, William Rusher, and Pat Buchanan (when he was conservative) were high quality writers.
In any case, I might buy Ms. Coulter's latest work just to annoy liberals like the two New Jersey state legislators who whined about the book.

I just ordered my copy from Amazon. Liberals are on suicide watch.

Isn't it great how she plays them? She gives them the bait, and they fall all over themselves to denounce her. They just end up looking ridiculous and giving Ann free publicity!

Assemblywomen Joan M. Quigley, D-Hudson, and Linda Stender, D-Union, on Thursday called on New Jerseyans to stop buying the book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," and for retailers in the state to stop selling it Elected Democrats couldn't possibly be standing in the way of free speech and expression now, could they?
I couldn't imagine the outcry if these twerps had a "(R)" after their names.

I wonder what the reaction would be if a Republican government official anywhere went public with an encouragement for people to avoid Al Gore's crappy movie, or Michael Moore's crappy movie, or Al Franken's crappy radio show, or Joe Wilson's crappy book.
Those works are FILLED with lies and deception, and yet no elected Republican that I know of has come out and told people to "boycott" them--and yet, the left is so terrified of Ann Coulter, even their elected officials get their panties in a knot over her prose.
I love it.

Hummmm? Since this is a government official calling for a boycott, could this be Censorship? Do they want book burning too?
I know it isn't, but if the situations were reversed, that is exactly what the barking Moonbats and their MSM fellow travelers would be crying.

Well, maybe they should get a little backlash; I've borrowed some of the Freepers' comments on this thread and composed this letter to Ms. Stender.
Dear Ms. Stender;
I see that you have called for a National boycott of Ann Coulter's new book based on parts of it with which you personally do not agree. How delightfully leftist of you! Well, Im National and legal, and Ive got a reply for you.
What happened to freedom of speech and freedom of expression you "progressives" are usually so crazy about? What's next, a good ol' nazi book burning? Oh, but you folks probably have some environmental law against that too, so well just call what youre doing a virtual book burning. Would that still be a hate crime?
Oh, but I digress
Ann Coulter said what needs to be said; these women to whom she refers, are making the unfortunate deaths of their family members into political foray - much like Cindy Sheehan has done. Nobody feels sorry for those types of people, that is, except those trying to support their political agenda - like you and Ms Quigley for instance.
Say, where was all of your outrage at the protestors showing up at Veterans' funerals and disrupting the services? Did you feel sorry enough for the relatives of those deceased to speak out on their behalf? No, I didnt think so. The liberal hypocrisy knows no bounds.
What if
just what if, we took your story, and replaced the name "Ann Coulter" with "Dixie Chicks", and called for a boycott of their records? Well, you and your liberal media friends would have a coronary over the unfairness and rights violations of those little darlings...now wouldn't you?
Ya know, I usually wait for the paperback version, but now that Ive heard the latest diatribe from your office and your cohorts...I am going to buy the hardback edition; in fact, Im going to buy two...one for me, and one as a gift to my favorite liberal. Maybe I should send you a copy, you could actually read it and then your comments would be IN context
what a concept for a lib.
Oh and, Ann is doing OK with, or without, the sale of this book. The really funny part of all this is, youve done her book sales more good than a million dollar ad campaign could ever do.
Think (I know its a hard concept for lefties, but try), think about it for a second...liberals would have never bought it anyway, and now that youve let all of the conservatives know how much it gnaws at you, they'll be out in droves to buy this one. Im sure Ann will worry about your boycott all the way to the bank.
I have to close now, Im laughing so hard the tears are blurring my vision.
FrankR
Thanks to all the Freepers who gave me the inspiration.
