Something special happens every Friday at the front gates of Walter Reed. It is sometimes really exciting, like throwing CodePink off its corners or watching "Squeegee" wet himself with fright at an approaching Rolling Thunder member. But more often than not it's simply being honored by a visit from one of the wounded warriors from inside the hospital. When one of these truely special people comes out to thank us for being there... it's just a humbling, happy experience. June 2nd was one of those quiet, satisfying FReeps.
The big surprise was the most welcome return of Landry Fan!
Landry's been going stir crazy and needed to get back to what she does so well: Supporting the Troops! From her blog entry of the evening: "There were lots of honks of support and thumbs up from cars driving by. Some grateful soldiers stopped by to thank us for being there. One injured soldier, the father of two, said he would return to Iraq in a heartbeat." Welcome back, FRiend! We've missed you. |
We had more than twice as many patriotic supporters than the traitorous Pinkos managed to gather (23 to 10). The honor roll of attendance (lurkers marked with *):
AppyPappy (w/Mrs. and two kids), BillF, BufordP, Cindy-True-Supporter, Fraxinus, Gavin*, Jack Deth, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Just A Nobody, Kristinn, Landry Fan, Lauren (PW), Mary*, PleaDeal, StayTrue, tgslTakoma, Son & Daughter-of-tgslTakoma, and Trooprally [Mr. and Mrs.].
Unless iMacMan or bmwcyle come back, Mrs. Trooprally has taken over the top spot for "Top Shot". Her new camera is so good (go ahead, say it - "How good is it?") it can gross you out with fine images of hippy hair on Pinko wymyn's manly legs. All of the pics here are Mrs T's with the exception of the few blue-bordered ones that were taken by my soon to be dumped camera. You can see all the photos here.

BufordP making a point? |
The Pinkos managed a paltry turnout.
Bruce's watch must be fast 'cause he showed up a full 10 minutes early. Maybe he knew the, er, "manly one" was going to be replaced by something not quite so hirsute? |
At least they're staying on message! |
Well, I really blew it. I didn't copy the pics from Trooprally's photobucket page, and now I appear to have exceeded the limit for views. I managed to catch a few of them, but not nearly enough.
Since I don't have BillF's or Albion Wilde's gift for prose, I'll just include this little rant aimed at those who have been maligning the USMC.
Come out this Friday and join us in celebrating our Troops.
Great Report! God Bless the U.S Marines they know how to make a point!
Great report. It was nice to be back. Thanks to Justanobody for the ride to and from the freep and the use of her chair.
Congrats to our guys for terminating Zarqawi! What wonderful news to wake up to.
Your faux "support" doesn't fool anyone. The troops want to finish their mission. And most of them would go back to finish that mission, in spite of their injuries and the danger.
If we follow pinko logic (an oxymoron), we should pull all the cops and firefighters off the street because they can die in the line of duty, and their "mission" is never over.
If you care as much about the troops as you pretend to, why do you call them "baby-killers", or ignore them and turn your backs to them when they come down the street to talk to you? Why do you run and hide before the bus comes back? Afraid your fresh new useful idiots will see the truth? Why don't you make signs that says what you REALLY think? We all know why. Because lying is the only way you can continue to exist.
The troops think you're disgusting. The families of the troops think you're revolting. It's a darn shame they put their lives on the line for the likes of you, but hey, that's what heroes do.
Thank you for the report. I am so proud of you guys!
Go FReepers!
bttt
I need help. I am getting the, "You care more about being with people you don't even know than you do me" speech from the wife.
So, I stay home, expecting the wife to want to do something. Instead, she sits at her computer playing games and I sit at mine...WHOOPIEE!
She won't join the rally because she hates crowds and attracting attention.
Women, please tell me how to best understand what is going on.
Men, please advise me on how to deal with it.
As soon as I get my motorcycle, which could be this week, my solution is going to be, "Wife, whether you want to or not, I am going to the rally."
But, whatever you all do, DO NOT LET MY WIFE KNOW I SHARED THIS WITH YOU.
Do you have a link to the story of the wounded Marine? I want to refresh my mind on the details.
"As the wife of a deployed Soldier" you are included in those heroes we support and celebrate. Military Families are the crucial elements to our successful defense of our Nation. THANK YOU!!!
If she gives you that and then goes sticking her face in a 'pooter, tell her she obviously doesn't care about you as much as the damn games.
And then walk out the door to WR.
I thought of you when including the pic. It seems even more appropriate today with the death of Zarqawi!
Thanks for your generous compliment.
GySgt Burghardt BUMP!
Very cool story!!!! Just goes to show that something special DOES happen every week.
No, check with PleaDeal for info on the Marine.
*huge grin* WooHoo!! It IS a great day.
We have been "discusing" some special ideas for tomorrow.
Sympathy cards and .....
Sign for Friday Nite:
Zarquawi Dead. Code Pink Sobs.
1. Always invite her to come join you.
2. This is not about being with other people and socializing. This is about countering the kooky left. It's showing our support to those who have been severely wounded while protecting us.
3. Some people think they deserve the freedom they enjoy and are unwilling to do anything about preserving it.
4. Memorial Day, 4 July, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day are days set aside to remember and give honor.
No, THANK YOU StarCMC!
Thanks, FF! Your support is really appreciated!
Thanks for the reminder, BufordP! I use your wonderful reference site every time I write one of these things. Has anyone told you recently that you do good work?
As J.A.N. said in another post, "Murtha is deeply saddened!"
