When President Bush nominated Gen. Michael Hayden to run the CIA, the press focused on disapproving Democrats and even some Republicans who were dubious about confirmation.
A month later, when the Senate confirmed Hayden by a 78-15 vote, the story was given much less emphasis in the media, which had moved on to other stories critical of the Bush administration.
Similarly, when Bush nominated one of his aides, Brett Kavanaugh, to the federal judiciary, the press was filled with reports about Democrats threatening a filibuster because Kavanaugh once worked for special prosecutor Kenneth Starr in the case against President Clinton.
Last week, there was much less media coverage of a Rose Garden ceremony in which Bush presided over the swearing-in of Kavanaugh, who had been confirmed by a 57-36 vote.
Bush has quietly been racking up small victories like these that seem at odds with the medias conventional wisdom of a presidency on the skids.

More media bias, as if more proof were needed.
It's really too bad that so many FREEPERS now believe and repeat the negative MSM tripe, instead of actually looking at the facts of this president's accomplishments.
the Hayden confirmation got pretty much NO coverage.
Let them "Misunderestimate" President Bush at their own peril, and they had some many perils in the last five years, so many...
I have to wonder how many of those freepers are actually Republicans. We're seeing a lot of names of people who signed up years ago and only recently started posting and all of those posts are negative toward the president and Republicans.
If a pollster for the MSM called me to ask if I approve of President Bush, I would say I not approve of him.
However, I voted for Bush twice and don't regret my voting preferences. Voting for President and Senator are about one thing - Who do you want on that Supreme Court?
With in the case of judges, Bush has nominated great legal scholars. For that, I am willing to overlook Bush's other antics.
BTTT
The maggots of the MSM and DNC have Misunderestimated President Bush since he was first sworn in.
Miss Marple coined the phrase Stealth President, years ago. It means while the whiners are lying and spinning about our president, he quietly does his job for America.
Huh? He was confirmed? No kidding? I hadn't heard.
I agree. And I, for one, am glad he sees his job as running the government and not me.
Hang on to your FR hat. It always gets interesting 'round these parts during an Election Year.
Move like the wind, strike like the thunder.
You're right; it will get much worse around here, although some days I read threads and wonder how much worse it can get.
"Move like the wind, strike like the thunder."
That may be a good analogy.
Or satisfying the egos of some really deprived or is that depraved people, who whine about him 24/7.
I would rather strike like the lightning... :)
True enough, but that ain't what the man wrote.
As an aside, how many of our current members do you think actually follow politics? :)
Bumping...
