The cure for cancer, heart disease and the dreaded Bird Flu Pandemic must
have been found, because medical researches now have time on their
hands for other groundbreaking studies like this one.
Years ago, I was helping a graduate student use PVPP (a polymer)
in a study on pigments from plants.
I noted in the product guide that the polymer's main use was to
clarify beer.
That's when it hit me..."we can't cure cancer...but at least we can
use our organic chemistry to clear up our beer!"

Teenage daughter's are God's punishment on men for once having been teenaged boys. My dad had three! He must have deserved extra punishment. :)
I'll have to include this quote in my Father's Day card.

Dr. Margaret J. Blythe Women naturally adopt a passive-agressive life strategy. They let men appear to make the decisions because they then can blame the men if anything at all goes wrong. They can play victim, it's not their fault, and the white man's burden is not on them. It's unfortunate because passive-agressive is an ineffective strategy for finding happiness. The women's movement is stuck on passive-aggressive.

They had to do a study to find thie conclusion? DUH!!! A pundit once said,
"The conclusions reached by any Sociological study are either (A) obvious, or (B) false."

In all, 41 percent said they'd had unwanted sex at some point. The most common reason was fear that their boyfriend would become angry. Ten percent, though, said their partner forced them have sex when they didn't want to. About 5 percent said they'd had sex after being offered money or gifts. Of course it is only the boys who want it... never the girls. Give me a break.

You ever think, possibly, there might be enough medical researchers to cover more than say, your pet issues?

You consider curing cancer and heart disease to be "pet issues?"

For some people, yes. You do realize, of course, that medical research goes on along different lines of research simultaneously, don't you? You also realize, I hope, that not every medical researcher in the country works on the same project as every other medical researcher? You also realize this is because there is more than one issue to tackle at any given time, and different researchers have different "tastes" in the type of research they are going to attempt?
This whole idea that everyone has to drop any research not devoted to cancer or heart disease is ridiculous on its face to anyone who even gives it a moment's thought.

It's called sarcasm grandpa, look it up. Other studies are certainly important, but nobody needed to do one here to determine that teenaged girls are pressured to have sex.
Geeze, remind me never to tap you on the should if I'm ever sitting behind you on a bus.

The leadership of my college's pro-life club (when I was in college in the 1980s) was pro-life feminists. They have plenty of stories about watching men in sports cars with Playboy air freshiners hanging from the rearview dropping women off to "take care of it". A friend of a friend was irate that her fiance's best friend couldn't attend their wedding because he had to support a child he didn't want and the girl refused to have an abortion. I don't think she expected my utter lack of sympathy...
