If someone had written here a month ago that Bush would agree to this, he/she would have been considered a terrible Bush hater who doesn't appreciate the strength of this President.
Now we are going to read how this is all a brilliant ploy.
To: Sabramerican
It is brilliant. He's just going to prove 'One more time' that compromising with tyrants doesn't work.

This is pathetic. Instead of learning from Clinton's follies with North Korea, we seem to be doing the same damn thing with Iran. I can't wait to hear how the "Bush lovers at all costs" will spin this joke of a foreign policy. Should be pretty funny, but then again, if I didn't laugh I would cry at all the bone headed mistakes this President and the Party have made since the 2004 election cycle.
To: cryptomc
I'm not sure what could be done to stop them other than
having freepers post pictures of nuclear blasts.

Things appear to be cooling, only because of the U.S concessions. Now is the time to be really afraid.
To: Sabramerican
Admittedly- this is startling and makes me very uneasy- yet it may just BE part of the strategy. "We did EVERYTHING we could to stop them"...
I'm willing to let it play out a bit before condemning it outright- though my gut reaction was WTH..

That could be it. But how many times do we have to prove it doesn't work ?
To: Sabramerican
Imagine if Bill Clinton was the one making these deadly compromises with these neanderthals who openly promise to destroy us?
But since it is George Bush negotiating our destruction with the Iranians, well that makes it all just fine.

That's okay - if the Iranians try any funny stuff, they'll get the ol' - ouch! - UN sanctions. Hey, they brought Iraq to its knees, right?

Huh? We'll allow Iran to make a bomb as long as they keep talking. This is a victory? Hell, no! This a defeat. Its beyond stupid.

See, here is the funny thing.
When I enthusiastically voted for Bush in 2004, I thought Kerry was the one who would bend himself out of shape to furnish such unneeded proof.
Seems Bush has adopted the Kerry's "Global Test" theory of foreign policy. And the Clinton approach of apology and surrender. He should pay Kerry and Clinton royalties.

Bush lacks the political clout for another Battle in the WOT...and watching how the media has ripped up the Iraq campaign, who could blame him for being trigger shy?
It would seem he's hesitant to send in troops to dismantle Iran...even though that's the right course of action, and I think he knows that would be the right thing to do. Unfortunately, it's not politically viable. Condi probably persuaded him against going in, because he would lack support internally and from our allies.
The Iranians know this. They know he (Bush) lacks support in congress to wage war against them, they know he lacks support in the media and the masses of sheep that drink from that group think slop trough, and that Europe is afraid of the Iranians and the crazies that would fight for that regime, and so the USA will capitulate...until Iran hits us, or an ally, and only then would it be incredibly clear that Iran must be destroyed for World Peace.
Sad thing to compromise...it's a precursor to the end of the middle east.
Bush is just over a barrel, and you can thank Murtha, Russert, Couric, NYT, CNN, and anyone else you can think of that's been an anti war liberal hack for endangering our lives.

I would suggest that the next time (about 6 months from now) that we need to really, really prove that compromising with tyrants doesn't work, that we give Iran a Los Angeles-class submarine (so long as they promise not to use it).
