Alaska Rescuers Trying to Untangle Whale
ASSOCIATED PRESS
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Rescuers were unable to free a young humpback whale Tuesday who became caught in the lines and buoy of a crab pot in Glacier Bay National Park.
Attempts to free the whale would begin again on Wednesday, Chief Ranger Chuck Young said.
The whale swam about eight miles, to the entrance of Glacier Bay, since it was first spotted Tuesday morning.
Crews had attached two buoys and a sea anchor onto the tangled lines to slow the whale down so they could go in and cut the lines. Three attempts to cut the line failed on Tuesday.
The buoys also would serve as a marker if the whale swims away.
Glacier Bay is about 75 miles west of Juneau.

.......I got about fifty-feet out and then suddenly the great beast appeared before me. I tell ya he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence he gave out a big bellow. I said, "Easy big fella!" And then as I watched him struggling I realized something was obstructing his breathing. From where I was standing I could see directly into the eye of the great fish! Jerry: Mammal. George: Whatever. Kramer: Well, what did you do next? George: Then from out of nowhere a huge title wave lifted, tossed like a quark and I found myself on top of him face to face with the blow-hole. I could barely see from all of the waves crashing down on top of me but I knew something was there so I reached my hand and pulled out the obstruction!

Then from out of nowhere a huge title wave lifted, tossed like a quark....Quarks are one of the two basic constituents of matter in the Standard Model of particle physics. (The others are leptons.) Antiparticles of quarks are called antiquarks. Quarks and antiquarks are the only fundamental particles that interact through all four of the fundamental forces.
LOL! I suppose you could toss around a quark, but I think the source of the quote meant cork. It was a great Seinfeld scene nevertheless.....

Put a diver in the water (volunteer) and cut the lines.

Remember when this guy ran and pulled 20%? That's why neither Clinton nor Bush Sr. had a majority that year.
