If Democrats had any chance of winning the House in November, they have to sweep marginal seats like this.

With 45% of the vote, Busby got the same percentage that Kerry got in this district in 2004.

It amuses me that they call this a close election. A nearly five point margin is not a close race.

This district is 44 percent republican, 34 percent democrat and 22 percent indpendent. In the past independents typically go 2 to 1 for the Democrat.

With that being the case in a two person race the Republican should in by about 5 points. And that is exactly what happened.

A race to close to call is a race in which the margin of victory is within the margin of error. Polling had to show that Bilbray was a certain winner.

This is just one more example of media bias. The strange thing is even with polls showing the power of the internet, the media still believes it can not be caught.

a race closely watched as a possible early barometer

It's only a "barometer" if it indicates things they way the MSM wants them to come out.

It won't be a barometer next week, some other future contest will be.

If the D had won, it would be the barometer for weeks.

That's great!

But I'll be more excited when a conservative wins a Senate seat, instead of some heirarchical, sycophantic RINO schlub.

The blessing of Botox (r) is that Ms Pelosi's face won't show the disappointment tomorrow.

Pity though that the win will be simply written off in tomorrow's analysis as a democrat own-goal, a winning race lost by a "foot in mouth illegal immigrant without papers voting" moment.

This is only for a couple of months, right? They have to run again in November, I assume?

GREAT NEWS!

Looks like everything out of California this morning is a bellwether of continued GOP majority in the House.

I'm sure that the Driveby Media will report it as such. Just like if Busby had won.

And I'm so glad that the Dems are piling up "moral" victories...

a race closely watched as a possible early barometer of next fall's vote.

Only if the republican lost. This will be hardly mentioned and quickly forgotten by the MSM. But if the republican lost, then this would be front and center right to November.

I think we need to see a series of colonoscopic articles about how Democrats are frittering away their chances for the House, etc. The McKinney, Jefferson, Busby (foot in mouth) sideshow may plunge the party even further into loser territory rathe rthan grabbing the brass ring.

Quite frankly I would think the liberals should expect, no demand, more than these idiots and/or crooks provide.

With 90 percent of precincts reporting, Bilbray had 56,016 votes or 49.5 percent. Busby trailed with 51,202 votes or 45 percent.

Beat her by 5 percentage points. Hardly a 'narrow victory'.

Hmm. The libnuts are going to be in a quandry after this one.

Of course, they usually go into bipolar optimism mode right before an election, anyway. It's so hard to tell.

This is very good news.

Of course, we will hear nothing today except how Bilbray's margin of victory was not as much as predicted, and how the Democrats are going to bootstrap from this defeat on to electoral triumph in November.

But, you know what? When your opponent deludes himself, it works to your advantage.

Francine Busby to illlegals: "Everybody can help. You can all help. You don't need papers for voting, you don't need to be a registered voter to help."

I cannot believe that she was dumb enough to say that in public. It is unfortunately true that you don't need papers for voting, that vote fraud undoubtedly happens on a wide scale across this country.
