KANSAS CITY -- A hurricane evacuee who is accused of firing shots into a carful of people and killing a child has been arrested by police in Woodville, Mississippi.

Early Tuesday, Kansas City Police sent out a murder warrant for 24-year-old George H. Haynes who they believe was involved in the incident that left two-year-old Jontae Hoskins dead and two other children wounded.

The other children who were shot include a four-year-old boy and eight-year-old girl who were taken Sunday to area hospitals in serious condition.

Police said four adults and four children were riding in a car as the adults had gone to confront the boyfriend of one of the women after he hit her the night before.

Police said Haynes and two others later followed the group in an SUV and fired four shots at the car.

Police said the eight people had moved to Kansas City after Hurricane Katrina forced them from their homes in New Orleans.

Haynes is charged with second-degree murder, eight counts of criminal action and seven counts of first-degree assault.

This is further evidence that my decision to send money to rescue stranded animals instead of Katrina humans was probably the right decision. Of course, I'm not a real compassionate guy.

Last week here in KC a large group of people were at a city park celebrating some kid's graduation. The gangstas showed up, the guns came out, and 5 people were shot. The other 50 around the picnic tables didn't see a thing.

I guess they were too busy trying to hobble away from the gunfire in their crotch-below-the-knees baggies purchased at Snoop Shag Pimp Daddy's Klown Kloze And Red Light Blinkin' Phat Klown Shooz And Bladez Stash Crib Houze.

You sent money to save the poor animals? I did too. I sent money to the priest to let 100 animals into his church when the local shelter turned them down.

Some animals are better than others. Especially those with fur.

Yeah, I almost feel guilty. I watched the coverage and my heart really went out to the animals. The animals didn't know what to do and couldn't help themselves. The people sat around and expected everybody else to help them when they did little to help themselves. Many are still getting aid almost a year later.

Is it child abuse to take young children to a "confrontation"; or is it an acceptable excercise in diverse ethnic values training? Or was it just a case of no babysitter available?

Also notice: four adults; four children; four shots, resulting in 1 dead child, and two wounded children, but no mention of any wounded adults. Did he target the children?

you have to remember that a small child is MORE helpless than a dog or cat.....a dog or cat could jump the fence or swim away or eat rats for food.....a small child can't do any of that and you can't blame the little kids for crooked evil nitwit parents.....

I love animals....the hummingbirds, the other birds, watching the deer outside....we belong to a Wildlife group.....but to me, humans will always remain above animals ....

You got me there, but that just makes me all the madder at the irresponsible kid and animal owners.
