Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)

Santorum up.
Who the Hell knows, but their "colloquy's" are so fake it's ridiculous. Rehearse much fellas?
The dems really, really don't want to talk about the marriage issue. A couple popped up to say we didn't really need to do anything about this because the states were taking care of it. Then the pubbies get up (except for Specter) and point out how the will of the people is being overturned by the judiciary, so they try to turn the conversation to, what else, high gas prices and how they ought to be doing something about it. What, pray tell, do they think they can do. The things they could do they won't.
If they regain control, God help us all!
Hey Reid .. the President did not make his fortune in oil
It was in Baseball
They have demonstrated that they are lying whiners with adolescent mentalities. Reid and Durbin are two of the most unappealing human beings on the planet. Durbin wants health insurance for all American families. Okay, let's hear your plan to do that.
Plus President Bush is really not all that wealthy, not compared to his father, his VP or his DOD. Not to mention all the wealthy hypocrites on the other side of the aisle.
They also do want to go on record
Because if they vote yes .. like they did with the Defense of Marriage Act .. then they tick off their base
And if they vote against it .. they look like hypocrites
PLUS .. many of their states have already voted on the gay issue
Betcha Clinton's have more in their bank account then President Bush does
Pardon the pun, bank on it!
Are these two really that stupid to say nothing has been down about energey???
Reid and Durbin are really making fools of themselves. Durbin, instead of looking at Reid as he pretends to ask him a question, can be seen facing instead the tv camera. Unfortunately for him, he is looking at the wrong one.
Oh and one more thing ... THEY ARE MORE THEN OBVIOUS WITH PLAYING UP TO THE CAMERA
