I don't think Reagan leaving Lebanon had anything to do with the growth of Al Queda. Would you have preferred Reagan poured the troops in, incurring 50,000 casualties, and then coming to the same conclusion? I don't see where we would have been any better off then than we are now. Reagan knew to cut his losses.

Bush disregards sound military advice, unless you consider Rumsfeld one of the great ground commanders in history. He also lacks the will to prosecute a war. Fallujah should have been leveled by artillery. Bush will go down in history just like LBJ. A free-spending Texan, who fought an unpopular war according to his own concept, while setting the stage for runaway inflation ten years down the road.

Reagan oversaw the great buildup of American forces intimidated the Soviets and led to the 100-hour ground war in 1991. Bush believes in doing more with less.

Please specify, with links, the 'sound military advice' that President Bush has 'disregarded.'

You have drawn some pretty sweeping conclusions and made some very serious accusations without any proof.

Any time a post could have just as well been written by a leftist, it seems wise to ask for the facts to back up the condemnation of the President.

What are yours?

bin Laden, himself, pointed to Reagan's pullout in Lebanon, as well as Clinton's pullout in Somalia, as a sign that America would not fight.

This is preposterous. Bush allows the MILITARY to fight the war. He trusts the men on the ground. As to will, had this been Reagan, or Clinton, our troops would be out by now, and Iraq would be in complete and total chaos.

Your economic ignorance is astounding as well, as there is no evidence that inflation will ever to return to the extent it did under Jimmy Carter, who had no deficit.

Reagan did intimidate the Soviets, but it was George H.W. Bush who sent in the ground troops in 1991. One wonders if Reagan, after Lebanon, would have had the will to do it.

A LOT of people are criticizing the first President Bush for "cutting his losses" and not going all the way to Baghdad...and DO say, that perhaps if we had, 9/11 might not have happened.

Also, since Reagan DID pull out, we will never know, will we??

See, you can build Reagan up as this superhuman POTUS, because he didn't have a 9/11 to contend with..and you can hypothesize all day long, and say 'what ifs'...

That is a lib trick and I won't play that game.

Rummy and Franks did a damn good job in Afganistan and Iraq. They beat the hell out of the Taliban and Saddam, but were not quite ready for the follow up. The point is though, that there is no way in He!! they can beat us unless we surrender. I for one out right refuse.

You need a refresher course in recent American history!

To claim that President Bush is an LBJ, is patently ridiculous and in spades!
