Bush is the Next Reagan

Jun 4, 2006

Slater Bakhtavar - Persian Journal

The same people who heavily criticized former President Reagan for his tough stance against Communism and for his aggressive push for democracy in Eastern Europe are now attacking President Bush for his tough stance against fundamentalism and his aggressive push for democracy in the Middle East.

-They argued then that Communism would never fall - it did They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will

-They argued then that the Soviet Union is too strong - it wasn't

They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't

-They argued that Reagans vision of democracy in East Europe would never work - it did

They argue now that Bushs vision of democracy for the mid-east would never work - it will

They argued then that Reagans evil empire speech was a failure - it wasn't

They argue now that Bushs axis of evil speech is a failure - it won't be

-They argued then that former soviet bloc countries wouldn't embrace democracy - they did

They argue now that middle east countries would never embrace democracy - they will

-They argued then that Eastern Europeans nations would never be our allies - they are

They argue now that middle eastern countries will never be our allies - they will be

-They argued then that people without God could never embrace democracy - they did

They argue now that Muslims will never embrace democracy - they will

-They argued then that President Reagan was unrealistic - he wasn't

They argue now that President Bush is unrealistic - he'll prove he isn't

-They argued then democracy isn't universal to former Communists - it was

They argue now democracy isn't universal to Middle Easterners - it will be

-They argued then that funding of pro-democracy groups in Eastern European countries won't work - it did

They argue now that funding of pro-democracy groups won't work in the Middle East - it will

The same exact critcism was directed at Reagan. The future will be the judge of President Bush and my guess is that he will be judged as the Great Liberator of the Middle East.

If you really listen to President Bush, he DOES communicate with the people...

When he does which is no where near as often as Reagan or Slick.

George W. Bush is renowned for his consistent ability to mangle a phrase

Media hype.........

good grief - he made a couple gaffs way back when - He does a terrific job. Did you watch him during all the rallies and speech's during the last campaign and all since ? Can you think for yourself or are you deliberately attempting to perpetuate this myth?

If so, it's a lame strategery.

The Clintons have never been good at anything except counterpunching as Newt would later say. And Newt became Clinton's foil starting in '95.

Agreed and they are trying the same thing again with the "far right wing" talking points

Figures you would bring up the "Bush is an idiot since he can't speak" crap. Go back to DU, LP, or whatever sewer you spawned from.

Goleee

'wish I'd read your post in answer to this j*rk before I posted mine. I would've just copied pasted yours - I like it better! ;o)

"What's wrong with spreading LIBERTY and Freedom around the world?"

If you're serious, we're going to need a lot more weapons. Probably reinstate the draft and recruit mercenary armies.

LOL - about the bash-Bush book you remarked on - the first point being: "Bush didn't win the popular vote so he isn't really President."

Someone aught to point out to that jerk that, by that criteria, Clinton was never President...

Good luck with your book - let us know?

That RETROACTIVE INCREASE INCREASE even taxed the DEAD!

Do you really think it bothered them? Seriously.

I noticed they still rose from the grave and voted for Dims on a regular basis. And they still do.

Face it. The dead like being taxed!

They've also had a few members investigated by the USSS for making threats toward the President.

Back in the day, so did FR.

I finished it months ago. It was for a class during the spring semester.

The sad thing is, the author is a PhD and yet he ranted that Bush isn't a legitimate President since he lost the "popular vote". One would think someone who is smart enough to earn a PhD would realize that we don't elect the President by popular vote.

I pointed out this fact in the book discussion and everyone agreed with me, even though that don't like the President.

Oh, and as for Clinton, he did win the "popular vote." He just never won a majority.

Well, since the immigration crap got started, there are a few on FR who need to be investigated. Most have been banned but a couple are still here.

And far too many on this forum. I used to think that being a conservative implied positive certain personal characteristics, such as reasoned thought, and respect. No longer. I have been on FR too long to believe that. What people on this forum say about this President is beyond the pale.

It's very discouraging. This is the place I counted on coming to for a bit of sanity and civility to sustain me thru' the opposite - but, of late, it's become as uncivil and depressing as the "outside" world. Actually worse. One hopes for better from 'family"

Is there any way to turn it around?

I keep telling myself it must be because of trolls - trolls are rude, uncivil, and not long on reasoning power. But I don't know...

It's a different kind of war, a different kind of enemy - but just as dangerous.

No, they have no WMD. The Soviets had plenty.

The risks to the West simply are not comparable.

he's no Ronald Reagan and probably never will be. There's no topping the greatness in vision Reagan had.

History may have a different opinion

So then by your lack of an understandable answer you are saying that Newt accomplished nothing after '95.

Newt hadn't yet sent any bills to conference by mid-'95. So I just think you've demonstrated you're too stupid to argue with.

Ask some of the other Xlinton-era people. We used to have daily calls for armed insurrection. A lot of highly suggestive remarks about the personal safety of Wild Bill.

FR was pretty subversive. It was charming.

Hey, COEXER - Don't follow his advice -

Hey newbie. Take a deep breath.

You'd be better served to have a big can of tomato juice on hand. (That's what I used on my dog when he got too close to a skunk)

ALOHA RONNIE, please don't take this as a rant against you, because I've read your posts and I can see where your heart is. However, I've had enough!!

I've had enough of both sides bragging about having moles on the other side, I have had enough of FReeping and Duing polls and I have had enough of sites that slam the 'other' side.

This is not an internet game, this is our country. We have enemies and they will destroy us if we don't stand together.

It breaks my heart to see a country that once stood proud, waver because of malcontents and anarchists that are only interested in their own agenda.

I will stand firm with my President.
