We are facing a whole different threat now, waged in the name of a religion with over 1 billion adherents connected by technology, funded by who knows who, taking up residence in the West waiting for the word or plotting, using liberal democracies to advance and protect their theocratic views, particularly in Europe. We can't even get our arms around who the enemy is let alone determine their ultimate danger, particularly with the likes of Iran in the mix.
