Agreed... the great communicator Ronald Reagan beats Dubya hands down in umm communicating, but that hardly effects policy.

"Reagan was a great, but flawed man. Why can people accept that. Dubya is the same."

I understand and accept Reagans flaws. His presidency is history, and he won the cold war.

GWB is not yet history. What conservatives like me are trying to do is minimize his adverse impact to our future so we can have this historical argument (in english) at some point and realize how bad his domestic policies really were to our country.

I agree Bush screwed up supporting amnesty, but so did Reagan. I am hoping the House stands firm.

He uses the President's name out of sheer mockery, Patty.

And in every post he shows that he's not even half the man that his namesake is. He's a joke........a bad one.

And while we're at it maybe we can avoid claiming Reagan and Clinton were of a similar bent with regard to foreign policy.

They do share one thing in common: they both pulled our military out of foreign nations when they were attacked by radical Islamists.

The President supports our Marines, something that Regan did not do.

I understand what you are saying, I just don't understand people that put Reagan on a pedestal like he was perfect.

Interesting figures on growth rate of nondefense outlays.

Wonder if Presidents find that fighting a hot war with casualties means they find themselves giving in more to pork expenditures to keep the Congressional support for the war going.

These figures may reveal a darker universal truth.

Tearing down Reagan to make GWB look better is petty. Reagan is not in office and sadly he's left us.

Well said.

RF, I hope we can all convince him that his amnesty plan is wrong, but I'm gonna cut him some slack because I expect the House to kill it.

They do share one thing in common: they both pulled our military out of foreign nations when they were attacked by radical Islamists.

And if I claimed Bush and Clinton shared a propensity for big government, you and other posters would jump all over me for making the claim.

WOT is one and one of my greatest fears is that someone is going to sneak a nuclear weapon across one of out porous borders.

Don't worry about it. It's simply impossible to "sneak" a nuclear weapon into the country without somebody knowing about it. Lots of hysterical authors will try to sell you books trying to convince you otherwise, but don't believe it.

I guess I did....sorry I haven't seen any others. Seemed like that was your only issue, you sort of use that as most border bots seem to.

I dislike the following:

1. Increased spending, but that happened under Reagan as well.
2. The edyycattion bill.....that was just horrid.
3. The "new tone"......awful
4. His border policy.

I still think he's a very good President for the things I listed and on balance should be praised for what he has done, much like Reagan, and Reagan failed in two of my four as well, plus some others. Did you read my small list of great things? What did you object to?

I've ALWAYS know how to cap and as soon as FR got a spell check function, I've used it, EV; so cut the unctuous mewling, without using the /sarcasm tag.

You aren't fooling anyone; least of all me...n00b.

Very good observations. In many ways, Bush is more ambitious and better than Reagan, although that they faced different challenges and I think that Bush has a much harder row to hoe.

I don't agree with Bush 100%, but I didn't agree with Reagan, either, and my standard is not that all of my opinions be supported by whoever is President at a given time. However, I think Bush would be doing a better job if he had more support, but between them, the leftist press and the hysterical right have pretty much stripped that away.

you think what you like, that does make it so. Your opinion is just that, as is mine. However, I have facts on my side, and if you would do any research at all, read newspapers from around the world, actually listen to what the man is saying, you'll see that what President Bush is trying to do is actually MORE IMPORTANT THAN WWII, and I don't say that lightly. If he can accomplish what he wants to, the world will be a better place and this nation will be a lot safer. I just can not understand why people don't see his big picture, because they don't agree one one or two other issues. If Iraq fails it WON"T MATTER ABOUT THE BORDER!!! We'll have homicide bombers daily just like Israel, we'll have 9-11 on a regular basis. These people declared war 10 years ago, time means nothing to them, they are still mad about the crusades!!! something that happened over 500 years ago!! What part of "we'll rule the world in Islam" don't you understand. It might sound silly to you, but these people really, really believe it and will do anything to achieve their goal. That's only part of my rant, but Bush is the first and sounds like the only President to understand this..
