Red Dawn was set in a fictional town called Calumet, Colorado.

Which was actually Las Vegas, New Mexico, IIRC.

Another bit of Red Dawn trivia: The same guy that wrote Jeremiah Johnson also wrote Red Dawn and is/was a big cheese in the NRA.
