Also unfortunately, it's behavior like this which is giving conservatism liberalism a bad name, and reinforcing the negative stereotype of conservatives as overly moralistic busybodies liberals who want to control other people's lives and force other people to obey their personal views on same sex marriage, reproductive rights (abortion), higher taxes and a total nanny state. This kind of stuff doesn't help bring more people to the conservative liberal (progressive) movement, and it drives a lot of people away.
Yes it can, and does. But that doesn't ameliorate the fact that many conservatives are needlessly driving people away from conservatism by their misguided behavior.
