I agree, but at the same time we do have to admit that "the mother tongue" is a bit of a bastard itself.  Rules aren't rules, we have always borrowed from other languages liberally without batting an eye and the meanings of words are... flexible, shall we say.  And that's why it is possible to say things in English that are not possible in any other language.

All you have to do is let go and embrace the chaos.

Now Latin is a disciplined language.  You say what you say and that's what it means, thank you very much.  You know someone's really good at Latin when they can make up good puns.  That takes skill.  Puns and double entendres, intentional or not, are way too easy in English.  If you don't watch out you'll find yourself insulting someone without realizing it.
