Don't forget the five that were minors... they couldn't name them.
The interview with these guys, who don't seem to have played any part in the investigation, was on Saturday.
At that time, the question of whether the material was actually seized from the terrorists was not brought up ---
( except here on FR, of course :-)
It is way past time that serious people started asking some serious questions. Like:
1. Why has it been so easy for our enemies to enter our countries legally and illegally?
2. Why aren't we profiling like crazy?
3. Why are we allowing new mosques to be built?
4. Why do we continue to allow immigration from muslim countries?
5. What is it going to take to get serious about the enemy among us?
Yes. Unfortunalely I'm still on dial-up (they're putting in a new line now) and Mia T's heavy graphics shuts-down my system. So...
I'm on dialup also, so I appreciate backhoe's use of links as opposed to heavy graphics.
Thanks- interesting links.
UR good! Thanks.
Good to see you- appreciate the kind words.
Thanks bitt, fantastic amount of material here!

AND IN AUSTRALIA:
Early on November 9, State and Federal police raided dozens of properties in Melbourne and Sydney, arresting 17 men and seizing large quantities of alleged precursor chemicals, laboratory equipment, instruction manuals on the production of the explosive triacetone triperoxide (TATP), and maps and photographs of potential targets.
One suspect, Omar Baladjam, was shot in the neck after firing at police outside a Sydney mosque. An eighteenth suspect, Melbournian Izzydeen Atik was arrested in Sydney on November 11, apparently on a liaison visit. Police and political leaders in both States declared that the operation had foiled an imminent attack of enormous magnitude.
The group was under close surveillance by ASIO and Federal and State police for at least 16 months, with hundreds of hours of conversations recorded. Several of the Melbourne suspects were targeted in raids in June 2005.
It is alleged that those arrested in both States constituted an unnamed terrorist organization led by a 45 year-old from Melbourne, Abdul Nacer Benbrika (aka Abu Bakr). Benbrika had previously called Osama bin Laden a great man and claims to support the aims of Algerias Salafist Group for Call and Combat (GSPC) [1].

They're everywhere.....
Well, Son of a Bitch!
Thanks for the synopsis, and link.

This morning the Ottawa Sun is reporting that Parliament was on the hit list
The Canadian Islamic Congress is critical - not at the alleged plotters - but that the government hasn't been "funding research on "home grown" effects of imported extremism".
(Last week they were celebrating the CUPE boycott of those dirty joos Israel. "Home grown" effects, indeed.)
Glenn Reynolds has morning observations on the media spin cycle that began the instant the arrests were announced, including this comment (from one of Roger Simon's readers);

Report from the courthouse.

Pajamas Media has a roundup of stories on the recent terrorism arrests in Canada involving suspects, many of them teens, who had never been to Afghanistan or Iraq, were as Canadian as Molson Beer or American as Apple Pie and had in their possession three times the explosive used in the Oklahoma City bombing. But large as the Canadian story is it is probably only part of something even larger. Atlas Shrugs quotes Cuanas, who supplies the connecting idea. 94 comments
As more information comes to light about the terror cell in Toronto smashed by Canadian authorities, the picture emerging is that of a global jihadist network that apparently does not require professionalism or guile to join. As this episode shows, any group of Muslims filled with enough hate for motivation can work through the Internet and a system of mosques to find like-minded terrorist wannabes and the resources...Well before police tactical teams began their sweeps around Toronto on Friday, at least 18 related arrests had already taken place in Canada, the United States, Britain, Bosnia, Denmark, Sweden, and Bangladesh.
This should send chills through Western populations and open eyes as to the nature of the terrorist enemy. Comments (7)

The Toronto Star reports this morning that the RCMP itself sold the Toronto terror cell the three tons of ammonium nitrate it planned to use for devastating attacks on Canada.

Getting confused on the size of the bomb
I don't want to say the alleged plot was somehow less horrifying, but if you are going to make comparisons, make sure they are accurate ones.
The Telegraph reports that the homegrown jihadis arrested in London were planning a sarin nerve gas attack for the anniversary of the July 7 bombings. (Hat tip: LGF readers.) link: 27 comments
Melanie Phillips has an op-ed in todays New York Post, about the British cultural vacuum that has transformed London into Londonistan.
We are the enemy in this war with terror (Canada)
I wrote the following a long time ago, and while I could state it differently, I cannot say it any plainer:
From my file, "Fire & Blood & Iron:"
The entire West ( dare I say "the civilized World?" ) is locked in a fight to the death with militant Islam.
There will be no second-place winner, no "third way" solution-- it is March or Die time, folks.
It is Us versus an eighth-century "culture" of plunder & pillage, forced religious "conversions," and the mistreatment of women.
The sooner we face up to this fact realistically and quit dancing around PC talking-point nonsense about diversity and tolerance, the better off we'll all be.
We did not pick this fight- which really has roots in Jimmy Carter's appeasement in 1979 of militants- but we had damned well better see it for what it is, and be prepared to face it and finish it.
I'll put it in raw, personal terms-- I don't want Sharia law visited upon my women, and I don't want a goat-roper "culture" infesting my land.
I don't want their vile, nasty, loathsome weapons of mass destruction loosed upon my fair country, either.
They picked the fight, and now it is up to us to finish it- balls to the wall, hammer and anvil, fire and blood and iron... freedom is never, ever free, and the coin you pay it in is men's lives and tears and blood.
What we saw during Gulf War I was our military doctrine ( high tech ) versus Soviet doctrine ( throw a lot of low tech iron at the problem )-- and we all know how that turned out.
What we saw in the 3-Week War is Information-Tech,
( What some are calling it Hyperwarfare... )
or 21st Century warfare versus 20th Century...
What I would suggest, and call your attention to, is the fact that we, and Israel, are capable of waging 21st Century warfare, and the entire Arab world is not.
Proven fact, by recent events.
One more thing- this will be a war where we are all called to be warriors- so I suggest to you that the time has come to get hard, and stay hard... it really is the time for Fire and Blood and Iron...
Take a good, hard look at what's going on here (Canada and Terrorists)
You won't beat terror with tolerance (an interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali)--This brave woman tells truths that liberals hate (liberals hate truth - one wonders why they are always claiming to "speak truth to power" - a bit of bitter irony there).
