I have pity for those who get infected through other, non behaviorally-related, methods, but I shall not squander my concern on foolish risk-takers getting a full set of lumps - be they sodomites, junkies, smokers, "rooftop runners", "human shields", etc...

I don't know if I would go that far, but as far as this AIDs epidemic, it pretty clearly IS natural selection at work. Strip away all the agonizing, theorizing, perversion-norming, etc, and that is what you are left with.
Simple natural selection at work. Choose a lifestyle that is harmful and your genes will start being culled from the population through early death. The only 'problem' with AIDs from this standpoint is that it takes way too long to incubate, and thus the virus assures its perpetuation...
