This is my first vanity, so please indulge me.
Dixie Chicks tour tickets went on sale today to the public in many market and it's starting to look a disaster, especially in the Red States.
There were initial indications that internet pre-sale ticket sales were going badly last week, but this confirms the news.
A review of seat availabilities on Ticketmaster indicate first-day and pre-sale ticket sales for the portly traitors are:
Detroit-Bad
Pittsburgh-Disaster
Philadelphia-Bad
Boston-Almost Sold Out
Wash. DC.-Selling Well
Chicago-Selling Well
Minneapolis-Bad
Fargo-Meltdown Disaster
Glendale, AZ-Bad
Omaha-Disaster
Denver-Disaster
Dallas-Disaster
Nashville-Meltdown Disaster
Tampa-Meltdown Disaster
Sunrise, FL-Meltdown Disaster
Atlanta-Selling Okay
Tacoma-Disaster
More venues go on-sale in the next week. California will probably go well for the cows, but the rest of the U.S. seems to be saying that the Chicks will be playing to half-empty arenas.
By thr way,the name"Dixie Chicks"doesn't mean C&W!!!
The plastic surgery bills shouldn't be all that bad. What about the feed lot charges though?
Dixie Chicks tour ticket sales disaster in Red States
OK, who's suprised? Someone...anyone...hello...hello
LOL
Thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one!!!! True confessions can be embarassing!! ;o)
Mikey Jackson hit #1 with his last CD, stayed there for two weeks, then quickly dropped out of sight only to be seen on the bargain $5.99 rack. The liberal groupies went out and made their purchase, it's all downhill from here.

Oh well. Guess I'm just more of a "joiner' than an "instigator.":-)
Or I'm lazy. Or chicken.
They are skanks. I can't decide on other labels to attach to the Skank label.
Basically, it seems to be that if you can still get good tickets for a show a day after they want on sale, it's a "meltdown disaster."
Ok, ya got me,how do I find the "personal menu" page???? I've actually tried, and can't, so I'm feeling computer-challenged once again :o(
P.S. I can tell you're not, you even know how to change the type size!!!!!
Does the tour have a corporate sponsor/s?
Flashback to 2003.
Dixie Chicks set ticket sales record
Austin Business Journal - March 5, 2003
Hot on the heels of their triple-Grammy victory, the Dixie Chicks had the biggest one-day ticket sale in music history Saturday, selling more than $49 million worth of tickets for their upcoming tour.
First day tickets sales of 867,000 for "Lipton Presents Dixie Chicks Top of the World Tour" have surpassed records previously set by Madonna, U2, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Backstreet Boys and N'SYNC.

MOst of the time, the big country stars have a big enough following in the major cities on the west and east coast, that they can play the bigger arenas in these areas and fill up 1 show.
Since the Dixie Chicks are much more country VH1 "pop", doesn't surprise me.
I worked in the music industry in my 20's. I was an audio engineer recording music and worked with some labels developing potential bands to be signed to deals. I know how the system works.
When I heard this week that the Dixie Chicks were on the top of the billboards with over 500,000 units sold during the first week, I rolled my eyes. I suspect their label bought a good percentage of those cds to inflate their sales numbers. They have a lot of money invested in this band, and while the Dixie Chicks are doing everything they can to kill their popularity, their record company, Sony music, is going to have to do everything possible to work behind the scenes to make it look like their sales are as strong as ever. Major damage control.
And the reason their radio play is soo poor, is that the major record labels, (knicknamed the big 5 since 5 corporations own the majority of all music distribution thoughout the world), are currently being investigated by the governement for the "pay-ola" system. Where they send money and gifts to record station music directors and djs to give certain artists heavy rotation play.
With Sony's hands tied with no "payola" going on, the Dixie Chicks have been getting almost no radio play from the country radio stations.
Someone occasionally sent me tapes of a folk show from Kent,
Ohio (WKSU)--I do like some folk, but mostly country. When
the Dixie Chicks controversy popped up, the host of this show,
Jim Blum, suddenly started playing some Chicks music including "Traveling Soldier". Hmmm...Same guy did a show on the night
Clinton was impeached (Dec '98) and talked about the day being "...on this tragic day in American history".
I occasionally check out--and post on--the Air America Boston messageboard (using names like Patrick Kennedy School of Driving) and someone posted an angry screed at the Boston station that refuses to play the Chicks. (Just went to find it and saw that, due to recent posts that were either Viagra spam or wisecracks by conservatives like me, you now need to register to post or see posts. LOL)
Target promoted the Skanks' internet pre-sale tickets with a special code number inside a copy of CD, but the pre-sale was a flop, too.
It was funny how they were dumped by Lipton last tour, courtesy of all of us at FR and other members of the VRWC.
Thanks!
Perhaps the school/students want to demonstrate their support for "artistes" that can't just shut up and sing?
