Carter warns against Iran conditions
BBC/ABC ^ | June 3, 2006

Posted on 06/03/2006 10:14:46 AM PDT by ncountylee

The former American president, Jimmy Carter, has said that the United States should begin talks with Iran without preconditions.

Mr Carter believes prerequisites could present the Iranian Government with too great an impediment to overcome.

His comments are significant, given that he was the president when US relations with Iran hit an all-time low.

He witnessed the Iranian revolution and the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979.

He struggled for 444 days to release the US Embassy staff held hostage.

A failed rescue attempt led by the US military brought about the resignation of his secretary of state.

It was the crisis that has scarred relations between the two countries ever since.

But Mr Carter thinks attempts to improve relations should have started long ago.

And he believes that this administration's offer to sit down and talk on conditions that Iran gives up its uranium enrichment program may not be enough.

Will someone please inform this yellow-bellied, lily-livered POS that he is no longer president and that we have elected officials covering the bases - something he never did when he was supposed to?

I just ran across this article:

N. Korean reactor project abandoned
http://www.newsdaily.com/TopNews/UPI-1-20060601-06483600-bc-us-norkorreactor.xml

Finally, the consortium, Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization, announced Wednesday that it decided to abandon the project. They are also "demand[ing] compensation from North Korea for the millions of dollars already spent on the $4.6 billion project." LOL

"KEDO, with directors from the United States, the European Union, South Korea and Japan, was set up in 1995 as part of a deal aimed at preventing Pyongyang from developing nuclear weapons."

Jimmuh C was a lead negotiator for this farce.

"He witnessed" is simply the reporters best attempt to lend credibility to Carter's expertise on this subject while at the same time trying to distance him from responsibility.

This is a good example of blatant media bias.

And also advanced Soviets and Chinese in the Far East way beyond what they should have accomplished.

If only Patton's and MCarthur's plans would have been implemented, all this crap these days would not exist.
