The father of a Maryland Marine who died in Iraq plans to sue an extremist group that picketed his son's funeral, his lawyer said Friday.
Albert Snyder of York, Pa., the father of Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder of Westminster, will sue the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., for unspecified actual and punitive damages, according to attorney Sean Summers of York. The civil suit will claim defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

I wonder why homosexual groups don't ever counter-demonstrate these sorry assed pieces of garbage.

I'd be less likely to sue these people and more likely to take matters into my own hands and deal with them personally...There is little probability of justice for righteous people in court any more. As the systems fail, people act. Call it democracy. Judges also need to realize that the people still rule.

It is vitally important that get an experienced conservative PR person (one with real former news media time) from the Get Go. A good PR person has kept the Natalee Holloway store alive for months on end.
Ed Blakeley in MD-DC is excellent.

"If this should ever happen to my son, and these loosers tried to picket any services, I'd be less likely to sue these people and more likely to take matters into my own hands and deal with them personally, one on one, mono e mono."As former Army, and father of a Marine, I understand, but that'a exactly what these pigs want you to do. They're lawyers. If you, or anyone goes after them physically, they'll ruin you in court. That's how they get their money to operate.
No, the courts are the way to go. I don't know how it will go in Maryland, but here in the Midwest I'd expect a suit would be pretty well received.

While I whole heartedly agree with your sentiment, that's exactly what these bastards want as they take you to court and sue you for all your worth.
Mr. Snyder is taking the right action. However, it will not be a lost cost effort.

I heard an interview on Sean Hannity radio a couple weeks ago with the people who picket funerals. These people are very, very sick and demented. There cannot be that many psychotic people behind those awful, thoughtless, invasive protests. Perhaps more of these kinds of lawsuits will put a stop or a steep pricetag on such disgusting behavior.

Put me on that jury and the nut crowd would be homeless.

>>>I wonder why homosexual groups don't ever counter-demonstrate these sorry a@@ed pieces of garbage.<<<
Fred Phelps and his cult first made national news during the funeral of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming. Shepard had been beaten severely and left on a fence to die. A few days after his attack, he died. It was a historic time for the homosexual agenda. There is a play and movie, The Laramie Project, that is often required viewing for U.S. students now.
Phelps cult is the crown jewel in the Matthew Shepard/The Laramie Project saga. Their ugly filth was seen all over the world as representative of the general attitude of straight white Christian males. This was in Oct 1998.
Why don't the homosexuals protest Phelps? They tipped the scales way over with Matthew Shepard, and if you look at the gains of homosex since 1998, alot of it can be traced directly to Phelps disgusting display at Shepard's funeral.
What you will not hear anyone talk about it the interview that Diane Sawyer conducted only a couple of years ago with the convicted murderer Henderson. It was an hour long and proved that Henderson and Matt were sometime hook up buddies and that they had been sexually involved for some time. Also, Matthew Shepard was HIV+. That's one reason right there as to why Henderson would beat Shepard to death. You won't find this on Wiki, which has a soppy tribute re Matt and "homophobic" Phelps, but I sat down and watched it the first time it aired. I always thought the homosex agenda loved Matt a little too much. So, that's why they don't do anything about Phelps, IMHO. He has gotten them so very far with his antics.
I realize it doesn't matter, but I never once believed, even in the Shepard case, that Phelps and his cult are so driven about homosexuality. I think it's a smokescreen and there is far more than meets the eye going on with those evil nuts.

Put me on that jury and the nut crowd would be homeless. Amen, FRiend! Me, too! I am actually returned a Federal jury survey form in Maryland recently, so I could conceivably see that case. Unfortunately, anyone on the Phelps side would look at my background and punt me before I could sit down in the jury pool selection room. Oh, well... Think they would believe I am a DUmmie for a little while?
