Snow: Flow of illegals not an 'invasion'
Spokesman says Article 4 of Constitution doesn't apply to border issue
Saying Mexico is "not the enemy," presidential press secretary Tony Snow today rejected the characterization of the constant flow of illegal aliens over the U.S. border as an "invasion."
At today's White House press briefing, WND asked the spokesman: "Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution says, 'The United States shall guarantee to every state in the Union a republican form of government and shall protect each of them from foreign invasion.' My question is, does the president believe this foreign invasion means only armed invasion, or doesn't this also mean the invasion of millions of illegal immigrants?"
Responded Snow: "I think what you are doing is you're attaching a martial connotation to something that does not have martial consequences.
"What the president has said if you were talking about an invasion, he's made it clear that Mexico is not the enemy."
WND also asked Snow about a lawsuit by war veteran Sgt. Peter Damon, who lost both of his arms in Iraq. Damon has sued Michael Moore for using clips without his permission in "Fahrenheit 9/11" to give the false impression that he opposed the war.
"I didn't lose my arms over there to come back and be used as ammunition against my commander in chief," Damon was quoted as saying.
"If he is asked," queried WND, "will this commander in chief be willing to testify in court on behalf of this double amputee sergeant?"
Snow called it a "hypothetical question"
"Please don't put me in the position of trying to answer to a lawsuit between somebody who served his country and Michael Moore," Snow said. "We'll let them deal with it."
Want an extra eye-opener about that school in Los Angeles?
Just do Google Advanced with "all these words" with this string:
"Nahuatl" "prison" "gangs"
Yep, they're teaching the kiddies the "codetalkers" language of Mexican gangs,
which is Nahuatl.
How did I connect these dots? When I spent 1995-2005 in Los Angeles,
I read an article in one of the free "alternative" weeklies that talked
about how the Mexican gangs in prison used Nahuatl to totally frustrate
prison authorities.
another ping -- if you want me to remove you please let me know.
Me, too.. and I'm so disappointed Tony Snow took this job.
Tell that to the Zetas and MS-13.
The path just split. I kept on going right and Tony...well, Tony went into the Bushes.
When I openly call for the military overthrow of the Mexican government by the US military, I am called a kook. There is even a FReeper that has demanded that I never ping them to a thread where I make this statement. I call for the violent military overthrow of the Mexican government by United States military forces. Then we can renegotiate immigration and trade quotas. Anything else, including building walls (unless on the Mexican side) is futile and blames America for Mexico's problems.
Could you send that to Tony? I don't think he's seen it.
Poor Tony. He probably won't have a radio audience to come home to.
Maybe Tony doesn't know anyone from Mexico. He should introduce himself, they seem to occupy an inordinate number of high offices in this administration. They'll set him straight!
I've always liked Tony Snow, and am sorry to see him being used as a willing stooge in this debate. He is WRONG.
I heard on some radio show that there be as many as 50,000 MS-13 members running free in our country. I can't remember where I heard it, but that number is startling. They make our domestic street gangs look like out of control cub scouts by comparison.
Sheesh, don't be a jerk. Welcome to Free Republic.
I feel the same way and have no idea why a crisis must occur before we do something.
I want immediate border enforcement, new strong laws, and give all illegals two weeks to contact the government to explain their story. After that, it's a felony to be in the country illegally.
It's a shame how a good man like Snow has to defend crap policy and say such things. Surely it has to make him all sick inside.
Boy, I sure am glad when FR made a choice between Travis McGee and Tony Snow, they picked the one that will give it to us straight... < /sarc>
Thanks for that info--hadn't heard about that language. How do you pronounce it? I just put that languge in a News search on Google and pulled up all kinds of hits too.
Add to that most of the responses on this thread take Tony out of context.
Two things;
(1)The president is off on this issue. (2) This thread is lame.
