Rev. Peterson Calls for the Resignation of Rep. William Jefferson; Black Caucus Supports “Culture of Corruption” Poster Boy
LOS ANGELES – Prominent conservative black minister and staunch critic of the liberal black establishment Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson today ripped the Congressional Black Caucus for their defense of Rep. William Jefferson, D-La. The New Orleans Democrat was caught red handed with $90,000 in alleged bribe money. Jefferson’s Washington D.C. office was raided by the FBI last week as part of a bribery and fraud investigation. Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi asked for Jefferson to step down from his post as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee. Jefferson refused, and instead accused Pelosi of discrimination. This week he gained the unanimous support of the CBC.
“Rep. William Jefferson should bury his head in shame and resign from Congress,” said Rev. Peterson. “The Black Caucus’ defense of Rep. Jefferson, who the FBI says is on videotape accepting a $100,000 bribe, is a living embodiment of the ‘culture of corruption.’”
Jefferson has a history of questionable ethics issues. According to ABC News, five days after the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Rep. Jefferson used the Louisiana National Guard including a five-ton military truck and a half dozen military police to take him to his affluent uptown neighborhood so he could remove a laptop computer, three suitcases, and a box.
“Rep. William Jefferson has to be one of the most ethically challenged lawmakers in Congress. Based on the FBI’s findings in his bribery case and his utter disregard for his constituents he should resign immediately,” Rev. Peterson said.

Peterson is a good and reasonable community leader that is regularly ignored, or worse, by the despicable MSM.
Cunningham resigned. DeLay resigned. The Dems are shameless, though.

IMHO, William Jefferson will walk away from this just as Ted Kennedy walked away from his crimes. Just as William Jefferson Clinton has walked away from his crimes. It seems that all politicians are on a different wave-length for law and order than the common folks. Else, why would Hastert come out in defense of this Jefferson slime?????
