"Today's report confirms that the Bush economy continues to go in the wrong direction for millions of American families, who are living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to make ends meet.

Living from paycheck to paycheck is hardly a quality of the middle class. It would be more appropriate to apply that quality to the irresponsible or the marginally motivated.

Sure, Bush does not support the idle, the incompetent, the lazy.

That's a good thing. Bush is not throwing money at them, and since it would be our money, not Bush's or Pelosi's, that's a good thing.

What's the problem here?

"Perception is reality"? Forget who said it, some `70s `I'm OK, You're OK' sheepish twaddle, but seems to apply to many now.
(Many Dems, as President walks across surface of pond to get nightcrawlers; "Bush Can't Swim!")

'...Americans Living Paycheck to Paycheck'

Pelosi says that like it's a congenital condition instead of a lifestyle choice.

As one of those paycheck to paycheck families I completely agree with your solutions. I am already implementing the stop spending option. My current situation is entirely of my own doing. And the recovery from the current situation will be of my own doing.

And to Mssssss Pelosi's comments, I ask what is her solution?

Raise my taxes?

Democrats are the phoniest of the phonies.

I agree 1000%!

Today I sent an e-mail to Ms. Pelosi...

I just got a response that said if I am not in her district she can NOT respond to me as CONGRESSIONAL COURTESY PREVENTS HER...

and she wants to be the next leader of the HOUSE...
My message to her was in regard to her dropping the request for William Jefferson, Democrat, Lousinana to resign from his chair as long as the Black Cacaus will support her in her reelection.
so lets name her "LETS MAKE A DEAL"

Has there ever in human history been a time that there has been "haves" and "have nots"? What is Nancy's plan so that there is not one single person that "wants". Guess what I want a ferari but I can not afford one. Will Nancy's plan give me one?

"if illegals that can't read or write are keeping you from finding work,"
They can't read, write, or speak English, but they're gettin' a lot of good jobs in construction. I started out as a carpenter, and made a nice living doing that sort of work. Now I see gangs of mehicans doin' a lot of that work.

"Doesn't everyone who works live paycheck to paycheck?"

I never have even when I was making 75 cents an hour.

After I was married I managed to save $7,000 for a house down payment when I was making $3.25/hr in 6 years.

I have never borrowed any money except for a mortgage and when interest rates were 18% and the bank unsolicited offered me $50k @ 12.5% I took it because I could loan it out at 18% the same day.

I've never bought anything I didn't have the money to pay for including my airplane.

I was raised to never buy anything you couldn't pay cash for except a primary residence, even the condo we have was paid for with cash.

I have no sympathy for anyone that lives pay check to pay check.

And dear lady, should you and your party return to power, what can we expect? Higher taxes and a paycheck that won't do what it's doing now. The democratic party would suck the economy dry and leave working Americans to shrivel and die.

Thank God Nancy has a plan to save us from the low inflation and low unemployment that is plaguing our economy.

A gentlemen has reminded me that a lot of these paycheck to paycheck people are Military, and with the transfers and low pay, it's not possible to get 2nd jobs or better jobs when you're moving 6 months later to another post. He is correct, and I hadn't taken that into account with my flip comment. My Apologies.

Families with kids living for paycheck have limits on what they can do especially when the burned out parents can't compete with healthy, non-handicaped people that actually sleep at night. 2nd jobs don't grow on trees they grow in places like India, which is where my job went.
I'm no Pelosi supporter, but some of you are so stone-hearted towards people who have worked hard but are not getting anywhere.
I am a talented person, I started out with music, then electronics, then computer programming. I pretty much lost my hearing so music is no future (and try having a phone interview with a indian recruiter) with my condition. The Electronics industry has gone to Malaysia, China, Taiwan, you name it. Now the software field got hijacked by indians and filipinos willing to work for $1/hour. And you're saying Oh just be tough and go out there and compete. Financially, my life is wasted and I have no more energy and my brains are too fried to train in another field that will end up being outsourced too, I have 3 kids and my programming job barely pays rent and food. My wife homeschools because we don't trust the public schools.
I don't know what the solution is, but it irks me when fellow conservatives act as if there is no problem. No, I don't want welfare, but I want a decent job that pays enough for our family to get out of debt and be able to take care of our kids and our parents.
