1- Exhuming the bodies will be prohibited by Islamic law. Especially by infidels. They may submit, because this is part of the plan.

2- Even if they are shown to be shot by 5.56 Lake City at close range, 'insurgents' have this too. Not conclusive.

3- Remember that one of the 'journalists' who collected and presented statements was jailed for 5 months by US forces as a security risk.

4- Remember that good Muslims execute families every day for as little as wearing shorts or being the wrong kind of Muslim. This fits the pattern.

5- To blame an 'atrocity' on the infidels is expected and part of the playbook. It doesn't have to be proveable. Just get it out to TIME and Al Jazeera.

I agree with your point; I've seen plenty of pix of US soldiers carrying AK-47's (I assume they are better than US issue arms at certain ranges or tasks, perhaps more reliable in the sand) and (fewer, but still) plenty of insurgents/terrorists carrying M-16 type weapons, so what this will prove, I am not sure. If one batch of rounds was sprayed into both the walls and the prone bodies of civilians, it's strong evidence that they were killed within those walls, but by whom would appear indeterminate. Regardless, no US investigation will be believed.

There's an interesting little factoid that I haven't heard before. Do you have any more info on that?
