I think that that people need to read the statement in its entirety, instead of edited by the local media, because it a pure attempt at damage control. Mr. Aguilar knows that he is in deep trouble with the LAUSD and the taxpayers of Los Angeles and the LAUSD for using a school for promoting an obvious anti-American and racist ideology with taxpayer dollars. The frightening thing is that LA RAZA and MEChA support schools like this all around the nation, with assistance of the unsuspecting taxpayers.

Absolutely! And he uses my "favorite" euphemism ... "underserved" ... not once, but twice.

The frightening thing is that LA RAZA and MEChA support schools like this all around the nation ...

I also followed various links provided above to the National Council of La Raza (NCLR): Charter School Development Initiative page.

Quoting:

"At the end of 2005, NCLR met its ambitious goal of assisting CBOs in opening 50 new charter schools throughout the United States. Together these schools form a network of small, community-based, charter and alternative schools that embraces the low-income, Latino, and English-language-learner (ELL) students ...

"Charter School Start-Up Grants: NCLR has provided millions of dollars to the 50 new charter schools in its network. These funds are targeted to assist community groups during the exploratory phase of the first two years of operation.

"Training and Professional Development: NCLR continues to provide numerous opportunities for the charter school network to participate in professional development and training activities. Regional as well as national events are held every year to offer information, resources, and expert instruction on issues that face the Latino student population."

See also NCLR's affilitates (70) pages and Corporate Partners pages.

Can't wait to watch NCLR's "ALMA AWARDS" on ABC ... not.
