As someone who never served in the military, I feel very reluctant to criticize Rep. Murtha.

That being said, I feel his actions are treasonous in that he is doing his utmost to portray our military in a bad light, and thereby undermine President Bush and our efforts in Iraq and in the WOT.

Since I have never served in the military I must ask... Am I wrong to feel this way and to express my opinions about Rep. Murtha?

I invite those who HAVE served to let me know how they feel. If I'm wrong I'll shut up and never mention it again.

Just because he wore the uniform doesn't mean he's righteous. Lots of Americans wore the uniform but turned out to be yellow-bellied, sniveling cowards.

I served in the Marine Corps. I'm now a former Marine and consider Murtha to be a disgraceful EX-Marine. And I know there are plenty of other jarheads (not to mention members of other branches!) who feel the same way.

I've never served in the military; however, my father did. He quit med school to join the Army Air Corps in WWII. He lost two brothers in that war, yet he spent thirty more years in the Air Force. He was (and still is) the most honorable man I've ever known. Rep. Murtha is demeaning the military as a whole and the ultimate sacrifice paid by our troops who have given their lives for us. In doing so, he insults my father's memory, undermines our country in a time of war, and deserves none of my respect.

Pardon me for answering sir, since I have not served myself and you did not ask my opinion. But service in the military does not give one immunity from wrongdoing,it does not make one a Dalai-Lama,(the Oklahoma City bomber served in the military)

It does however earn respect for the honorable sacrifice of ones precious life. I see it like a policeman who is caught comitting a crime, he should be held to an even higher standard of conduct.

Murthas actions could actually be the tipping point for us to lose this attempt to restore order in Iraq. The USA actully won the war in Iraq, and is now trying to establish a government, while the MSM,and Al Qaeda and others try to thwart the effort

I am sure Al Jazeera airs Murtha's words daily, inflaming the Arab street worldwide.

In fact, Murthas comments could possibly be inflamatory enough to bring a crazed maniac to bomb a mall in the USA this Christmas in the name of Allah, of course we won't realy know ,will we.
