Lubbock police have raised the number of sexual assaults possibly committed by the same suspect to three within the past two weeks.
The details and the description of the suspect and the assaults are similar. Each victim was threatened with a weapon and their heads were covered with a hood, police said.
Police on Wednesday released information about a third sexual assault that occurred on May 24.
A 45-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted at 1:30 a.m. after she accepted a ride from a man in a white pickup truck near a convenience store at 19th Street and Avenue A.
When the woman noticed the suspect was not driving in the direction she wanted to go, she attempted to exit the vehicle, according to police.
The suspect pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic pistol at the woman and continued to drive before stopping the vehicle a short distance away.
The woman's hands were bound, a hood was placed over her head, and she was raped inside the vehicle, police said.
After the assault, the suspect released the woman near East 19th Street. From there, she walked to a pay phone and called for help.
Two similar sexual assaults were reported on May 19 and Saturday.
Both victims are women in their 20s. They told police they were walking late at night when the suspect vehicle approached.
They also were threatened with a weapon - possibly a stun gun - had their hands and feet bound and a hood was placed over their heads, police said.
All three sexual assaults occurred inside the suspect's vehicle, which was parked in a remote location.
The suspect is believed to be targeting the area of downtown Lubbock and south of downtown between Avenue L and Avenue Q, according to police.
The assailant in all three sexual assaults is described as a white or Hispanic male, age 25- to 35-years-old, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, muscular build and weighing 190 to 210 pounds.
He has short, blond or brown hair possibly worn in a crew cut, according to police.
The assailant's vehicle is described as a white, single-cab pickup, possibly having a silver toolbox.
Police urge anyone with any information about the suspect to call Crime Line at 741-1000. Callers may remain anonymous.

I heard that on the news. The discriptions were vague
Vague? I'm sure Nifong would have a suspect, perhaps an indictment. At a minimum, he'd have ordered DNA tests on every white or Hispanic male in Texas.
Let's see a show of hands of people who think this was a smart move.
