A citizen's primer on immigration reform
WorldNetDaily ^ | June 1, 2006 | Jane Chastain

The American people are about to get "Bushwhacked"! The Republican-led House of Representatives is our only hope against a runaway president and squishy Senate leaders who have joined with Democrats in an attempt to ram a disastrous immigration bill down our throats.

To help you deal with members of the administration and Congress, I have prepared a primer to help you translate the rhetoric.

While my Senators are perfect on this issue, and the House seems to have its house in order on immigration, I don't have much faith. Remember, this is the same House that has approved every dime of spending.

Here's additional reading to accompany the "Citizen's Primer":

How many illegal aliens are in the U.S.?
Illegal aliens in the U.S. -- 28,822,746
Illegal aliens in the U.S. since Jan. 1 -- 1,512,751

Those numbers are as of today and are updated daily.

I have prepared a primer to help you translate the rhetoric

We had the Clintonian parsing and the Kerryite nuancing. Jane Castain's 'translation of the rhetoric' seems counter to Tony Snow who wants 'linguistic precision'.

'It isn't amnesty. Honest. It isn't. Trust me.'

[Snow needs a good dictionary and a revisit to the 1986 Bill, which WAS called amnesty, and which contained provisions very similar to the current Senate bill.

No matter how much lipstick the WH puts on this pig, it is still a pig.]

Ms. Chastain is 100% right.

The current senate is chock full of a bunch of Lying traitors who should be run out of town on a rail.

That article is so aggravating because it is so true. It just makes my blood boil.

I'm glad to see that link and the compilation of stats.

The trouble is: Those supporting the flood of illegals have their heads buried in the sand. They deny or ignore the facts/stats.

A thread emerged recently which went into detail of the number of illegals who were criminals, even before they came across the border. Stats exist to show that around 27% of the prisoners are illegals, and in California that number rises to almost 50%. Supporters ignore the flood of criminals, sex offenders, murderers, drug related criminals, etc.

Several threads have been posted in the last few years about the toll illegals are having on the health care system. One stat hidden from the public is the number of new cases of third-world diseases that are showing up. And health care is seeing a re-visitation of some diseases that were formerly eradicated from the US. [Run a keyword search on 'diseases' for links to several articles about illegals and the diseases many of them are bringing in with them.]

Thanks to the 'Net & FR, the illegal immigration debate has already moved beyond follow-on articles such as these. It wasn't so long ago that Americans were first being exposed to the truth: not only of Bush's lack of border/employment enforcement, but also his administration's active encouragement (via Treasury) in facilitating banking services to illegals.

With such information at hand, articles such as these are merely reviews of what we already know. The battle is already moving away from the education/information stage to real solutions. No, not by government, but by individuals. Rush has mentioned that this is the biggest issue he's ever seen in 18 yrs of broadcasting. More than terrorism, illegal immigration and the defense of America is the defining issue of our age.

These politicians who conspire to cheapen the value of American citizenship should be abruptly returned to that status in their next election.
