Dogs may soon be allowed to accompany their owners out to dinner.
Gov. Jeb Bush says that on Friday he will sign a 'dining with dogs' bill. The legislation gives local governments the OK to let restaurants permit dogs to eat with their owners in outdoor dining areas.
The measure would create a three-year pilot program after which time the state would revisit the issue to determine whether it was a good idea.
Allowing dogs to dine would be up to the local city or county, and then even if local restrictions were waived to allow it, it would still be up to the restaurant owner as to whether to participate.
The governor said his dog Marvin won't be able to make the bill signing ceremony, but he promises there will be a canine presence watching when he puts his signature on the bill.

As someone who loves dogs, but is allergic to most breeds, I would not be able to patronize these restaurants. It should be the business owners choice though, just like smoking should.

Brilliant idea.
Sure. A dog's butt in the same chair that humans sit in or next to. Very healthy for an eating establishment. Lots of parasites and worms. Oh. Brilliant.

I'm so glad all of the pressing problems in FL have been solved so the "republican" legislature can deal with serious issues like this.

I meant that as a "pun"; I guess I should have put a <{;>) next to my post.
To: CrawDaddyCA
I doubted many restaurant owners would go for it. The idea sounds quite stupid.

Outdoor area....no problemo! Maybe not for you, i'm highly alergic to dogs and if they touch me my skin gets red and itchy and such... Like if im wearing shorts and they rub up against me.

You cant have a cigarette but its ok to have a dog farting and slobbering in the restaurant. I had a friend with a St. Bernard and I swear that dog slobbered over everything in view.
