A quote from the story:

"If for any reason we lose that work force, you're going to see the time required to build a house double or triple and the cost of new homes increase 30 to 40 percent," Wetherington says.

True. And then those employees who build those houses will have more money to buy EXISTING houses (where sales is now sluggish), which will allow THOSE homeowners to "trade up" and buy the more expensive houses.

Henry Ford found you do not necessarily go broke by paying higher wages.

Bullsh!t......these lusers have been getting extra money for their slave labor long enough.
Not to mention the rework / quality issues with using non skilled labor. Ever wonder why your brand new house has soo many problems. Ever wonder why the damn construction companies go bankrupt, so they do not have to pay for all the claims of shoddy work.
Send em back, we will all be better off

The benefits of our economy not collapsing from the stress these parasites put it under far outweighs paying a few grand more for a house (or buying an existing home instead of building a McMansion), or an extra quarter for a head of lettuce.

Yep, just the other day an immigrant bought a $750K house a few blocks away and a few days later 6 families moved in parking 22 cars in the street and yard and turning loose 30+ kids on the neighborhood. Five of the wives will have children over the next six months and will not pay for prenatal care or for the delivery. The children will start school this fall and not one will speak English requiring our community to hire bilingual teachers. The men will sell their labor at cut rates causing local laborers to be forced to take lower paying jobs.

Yep, the housing market is going to suffer alright......

Liar, Liar...

If the cost goes up 30-40 % it is because he has legal guys building it so the time should be the same.

Pants on fire.....

He just confessed to hiring illegals and paying them less than the job is worth.

String him up on the telephone wire...

Gee, what happens to current housing stocks when the cost to build new housing goes up?? Or stated another way, what is the cost of a house using legal labor versus illegal labor? Might be just the thing we need to push housing prices higher, huh?? One other thought, who pays the hospital, schools, and other trappings of civilization when the low cost illegal claims services? It might be cheaper overall to just obey the law and use legal citizens to build our houses and buildings. God knows, our native labor at the low end of the earnings ladder are being raped by cheap illegals.

Bunk, any savings general contractors now make from use of cheap labor now goes into their pockets. The buyer gets no break on the price. The market sets the price of any level home offered. If builders have to pay more, the only change will be the amount of their profit. There will be a long time lag before the increased labor cost changes the market price.

Quality will probably go up too. Down here in Mississippi, there have been a lot of out-of-town business lapping up the money for repairs and roofing. They use a lot of Mexican laborers that speak little or no English. There are a lot of lawsuits for shoddy work and new damage due to workers screwups. There are also a lot of building supply companies that are starting to take legal action to get bills for materials paid due to the many folks that were smart enough to only pay a fraction upon delivery of materials and to hold off payment until satisfactory completion of the job. The construction companies have been withholding material costs because they know they will be having a lot of complaints and they want to use that money as profit and try to hang the materials bills on the customers that they couldn't satisfy because of shoddy work.

The violent crimes institute in Atlanta estimates that there are about 240,000 illegal alien sex offenders in America with an average of 4 victims each.

Paying 30 to 40% more for a house seems like a reasonable payoff to prevent a million rapes.
