Didn't see this posted already, but this past weekend saw lots of "law enforcement" cracking down on these beltless criminals who infest our highways. Between the stoplight cameras, speed traps and seatbelt enforcers, the police have crime all covered.
Meanwhile the Mexican invasion continues unabated with the connivance of federal state and local governments. Of course you wouldn't want the police to crack down on wetbacks. No money in it. Guess it's obvious the government by, for and of the people isn't the taxpaying middle class people whose loot powers the government.

In PA they have been running a PSA about "Click it or Ticket". One of the lines in the ad is something like "Cops write tickets because they care." I practically laughed until I cried every time I heard it.

I have about had enough with the Click it or Ticket commercials.
Everybody in Kansas knows unless you are speeding or committing some other crime, the cop can't do crap about you not wearing a seatbelt. It is only a secondary offense in Kansas.
I wear mine most of the time, but I have to say, to stick it to them with their lame commercials, I almost don't want to anymore. Their Click it or Ticket campaign probably will have the OPPOSITE impact....reduce seatbelt use.

Maybe it's because every dead driver is a potential loss of $10,000/year in taxes paid to the government. They want to keep you alive to keep the revenue stream going. ;-)

One of these "click or ticket"/sobriety road blocks was set up in my county last Wednesday. It was set up around 5om a few miles south of where I was tending bar and bingo was about to start and so many folks passed through it and commented on it when they arrived. One of my regular Wednesday night customers showed up about 8 to wait for his wife to finish with bingo and commented that there were an awful lot of Mexicans along the side of the road and a lot of cars being put up on rollbacks.........

Just a personal little anecdote here:
About a month ago I was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt and fined $40. I hated it then, and I still hate it now. It's obvious the local governments are doing this to fill the coffers. Anyone who buys the "Officers write tickets to save lives" line has probably already bought 5 Brooklyn Bridges over their lifetime.
That said, I rarely wore a seatbelt before I got fined. Now, when I get in the car, I feel naked without one.
Go figure.

"As to your statement 'Lack of safety belt use is a growing public health issue that . . . also costs us all billions of dollars every year,' that's not a problem of liberty. It's a problem of socialism. No human should be coerced by the state to bear the medical expense, or any other expense, for his fellow man. In other words, the forcible use of one person to serve the purposes of another is morally offensive." Only one thing wrong with this statement - we aren't talking about Socialism, we are talking about insurance (shared risk). If someone gets in a car accident and is NOT wearing a seat belt, statistics say that their medical costs are going to be much higher. This, of course is going to cause my insurance premium to be higher. I am being forced to pay for someone's idiocy. It has nothing to do with Socialism.
Now, if you are advocating doing away with insurance and everybody has to look out for themself, you are opening a whole new can of worms.

Having a brother-in-law who is a police officer, I can tell you that this silly law is all about money period. Safety is an excuse - they could care a less whether you wear the stupid thing or not. They write the tickets for money and money only!!! He swears that if politicians have their way, we will all be wearing helmets next.

You see the "click it or ticket" all over the highways of Maryland. Nice to see abuse of governmental power.

The law is working here in Washington. The Washington State Patrol says the number of people wearing seat belts has gone way up. There will always be some who refuse because "it's their right", or "it's just a short trip", but you cant legislate away stupidity.

Why is it that the government is always trying to get in the way of "natural selection."

Click it or Ticket?
Well, write it and bite it!!
To: from occupied ga
"Click it or ticket" is government abuse of power. It is just an excuse to collect revenue and search without a warrant. And my insurance certainly hasn't gone down in the years since we were hit with "zero tolerance" for seat belt criminals.

Virginia's secretary of transportation sent out a letter announcing the state's annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign May 22 through June 4.I wonder if this ad campaign is running nationwide. "Click It or Ticket" radio and TV ads have been running constantly here in Connecticut over the past several weeks...

Big Government out of Control. Money from a federal agency honchoed by an Affirmative Action Hire. Who cares if it takes more freedom from us. It's all about the big government money.

Each of us owns himself, and it follows that we should have the liberty to take risks with our own lives but not that of others. Dang, Williams, blew it in the second paragraph.

Didn't see this posted already, but this past weekend saw lots of "law enforcement" cracking down on these beltless criminals who infest our highways. Between the stoplight cameras, speed traps and seatbelt enforcers, the police have crime all covered. These campaigns disgust me. They are PR/advertising for levies (read: taxes) for police departments - but nobody ever asks about the disbursement of fines collected from all the scofflaw speeders. The pattern is consistent: a bunch of gloom-and-doom articles in the paper Thursday before the holiday and a bunch of gloating articles from some chair jockey in the paper following the holiday about "What a great weekend it was" or "our program is working."
Oh well...if you commit the mortal sin of going a tick over the holy speed limit (never mind about speed traps and other inconvenient facts) at least you can sleep soundly at night knowing that all drugs and contraband have been taken off our nation's highways and the rapists, murderers and yes, illegal aliens, have been jailed and/or deported.
To: from occupied ga
Yep, can't deport 11 million illegals, but they can catch you and give you a ticket if you're not wearing a seat belt.
