Anyone looking to adopt will find that there are waiting lists of heterosexual married couples willing to adopt virtually any child, if and when state social services removes its own internal barriers that hinder such adoptions.

Unfortunately that's not true. 40 thousand children go unadopted each year, and almost all of them are older children, as everyone wants an infant. A good loving home should be the goal.

Have you adopted? Do you interact daily with people who have also adopted or who are trying to adopt? I do and have.

The premise that we need homosexual adoption because there are not enough straights to adopt all the waiting children...is a myth. No child is deserving of homosexual adoption simply because purveyors of statistics "say" that a two-parent, male/female role model family cannot be found. With recruitment efforts (and the will of the govt agencies involved) more than are waiting now for children to adopt could be found, for even the most troubled child.

Now of course, the law forbids such adoptive family recruitment by religious groups (Catholics, and Black churches) in Massachusetts.

Many children who "wait" do so because of bureaucratic hurdles in the US social service system, the difficulty in our system of severing parental rights to children they cannot or will not care for, the fact that adopting teenagers poses great challenges (emotional, financial), and then there are the prejudices and philosophies of certain social workers about adoption, especially open and bi cultural/trans racial adoption. Some social workers are so eager to cater to homosexuals they pass over heterosexuals waiting for children. I have read of it from PAP's (potential adoptive parents).

And for homosexuals that do adopt, please do not presume they are all Mother Theresas looking for the troubled and disabled children. Probably just as many percentage-wise, like Rosie O, that want healthy white infants as among straights who want to adopt young children ...especially of their own racial group....a parenting/family building plan which is nothing to be defensive about.
