The only thing wrong with these polls is they keep putting Condi in the mix. SHE IS NOT RUNNING!

The economic numbers would be laughable if it didn't reveal the ability of these people to be led around by the nose.

Hillary Clinton 33%

Al Gore 16%

John Edwards 12%

Mark Warner 7%

John Kerry 6%

Russ Feingold 6%

Wesley Clark 2%

What a line-up!

Re the Florida poll.

60% disapprove of Bush's handling of the economy!
Only the blue-haired ladies and unemployed
welfare recipients, both of whom were confused
by the election ballots would negate a zooming
economy and an unemployment rate of less than 5%.

Turns out Gore said again he's not running. I think we can take him out of the picture. Its going to be Hillary, Warner, Clark, Edwards, Kerry and Feingold.

People in this country are disgusted by both parties - Its going to be a very different race than in 2000 and 2004. A moderate is going to run and win. Just a gut feeling.

I can dream, can't I? ;)

I know this will result in a lot of "Count Hillary out at your peril" sentiment, but I look at the list--Hillary, Warner, Clark, Edwards, Kerry and Feingold--and, uh, I'm not really afraid of any of these people.

There's an opportunity if we can get our ducks in a row early on. But there isn't one potential Republican who's running who has me enthused.

I dunno. This is what I would have expected, and does not foreshadow the shellacking that everyone thinks that Republicans are about to take.

Let's see, Washington's dubiously elected Democrat governor is hugely unpopular. Michigan's "star" governor, Jennifer Granholm, looks like she's going to get beat, and a Republican leads the gubernatorial race in FL.

Bush is unpopular, and so I'm resigned to the fact that he's not going to get elected to a third term. But anger seems to be directed mostly at him, and not generally at Republicans. The Republicans have two strong candidates in McCain and Giuliani; the Democrats really have no one after Hillary. She'll get the nomination and I predict she'll then go down in flames. If she stumbles, Gore will get the nomination, and he's been just plain mental since the day he was defeated in 2000.

I find all of this reasonably encouraging, if only because it's framed against the doom and gloom one reads everywhere else.

I think you may have a point. It appears that only the extremists in either party are truly happy with their party's representatives. Those in the middle seem to make up a huge sector this time. I think that the '06 and '08 elections could be setting up as a big shocker to both sides.

2/3s+ of the GOP says Guiliani and McCain are the leading candidates for 08 so you are likely correct.

However, since these polls indicate that the Treason Media is firmly in control of the American mind the chances of Republicans winning is shrinking fast. Particularly when "conservatives" attack anyone not in the most far right 2%. And they will not have a clue as to why an attack on the most conservative president in two decades or more did not lead to victory.

1) Two things are clear about the Bush numbers: he is viewed favorably ONLY on the War on Terror, and he is NOT viewed as a "Reagan Republican." That tells you all you need to know about what has hurt Bush.

2) Cantwell in a tight race in a state with a VERY unpopular Dem governor. Could be a pickup.

3) Harris is hopeless. I do not understand the unfavorables for her---sure, I get that the Dems hate her, but why the GOP? Regardless, Nelson, who should be easy pickens, is now a lock.

4) Stabenow better than I hoped, but the "state-going-wrong-direction" and the governor's ratings give hope that she is beatable.

Everyone "wants" Condi to run, but nobody does. She only gets 10% in any head-to-head with other Republicans.

So far, it's McLame and Guliani. Terrible choice, but if forced to pick, it's Rudy, any day.

Overall: Despite Bush's numbers, it is clear that a strong conservative GOP candidate will have no trouble, even in Dem-heavy states.

Yup! Agree. A moderate is going to make big strides this time. It's going to shock the heck out of every conservative and Leftist group!
