Just watched Dick Morris on the O' Reilly Factor tonight. He thinks that if Al Gore does decide to run for president in 2008, he can win.
I don't think so.
Morris bases his opinion on the following rationale:
1. People now link the import of Middle East oil with the empowering of terrorists.
2. The Reagan Democrats who voted for Reagan and Bush in 04 did so because both Republicans promised to cut taxes. They'll vote for Gore...according to Morris...because he'll promise to lower gas prices.
3. He thinks the fact that Gore carried the popular vote in 2000 still means something.
First, Bush isn't running in 2008.
Second, environmental policies have played a major role in price increases. We have major gas desposits in the Gulf Coast and oil deposits in ANWAR - but we're forbidden to drill there. We have fewer refineries now than ever - because of environmental regulations. Why Bush hasn't brought this up is a mystery to me, but it's infuriating.
Under a president Al Gore, the US would sign the Koyoto Agreement. That will send gas prices through the roof.
And why would the Reagan Democrats vote for someone who for sure will raise their taxes and gas prices?
Finally, the world has changed since 2000. Al Gore hasn't.
Gawd, shoot me now!
Yep....MY EYES...MY EYES.....holy mother of God, no!
Al Gore has displayed so many moments of questionable sanity since he lost the 2000 election (and he DID lose, contrary to what the Moron.Org moonbats and other far left 'Rat freakazoids will tell you), all the GOP has to do is to select the best of the Gore shriek fests, and that alone will scare the American voters into voting NO to Gore.
Again.
After 9/11, there was absolutely NO chorus of people from either end of the political spectrum saying "gosh, I sure wish President Al Gore was responding to this attack on American soil", and even now you won't hear much (if any) of that nonsense.
Plus, in a practical sense - Al Gore might not want to be meeting Vince Foster for a nostalgic "remember when" party any time soon.
Nice job, if you can get it (Dick Morris'!)
If Dick says it, go short on his prediction. He's only been right predicting the Clintons. In EVERY other respect, he's dead wrong!!!
GORE IS A BORE!!!!!!!!!
I tried to read his book, "Off with their Heads". He spent the entire first chapter shredding the NYT, then at the end he mention he still reads it. That was enough for me.
There is no way Al Gore could ever be elected on the national scene again. Hannity's sound bites are plenty to keep that guy relegated to preaching to his lefty choir.
So who will it be, Dick? Hillary or Gore? Make up your dang mind.
He has no credibility left.
Dick also thinks that toe-sucking is real sex.
Two or three months ago Dickie was on Fox almost every other night saying Hillary had it locked up and no other dems were even on the radar. This guy comes out every few months with a spin that totally contradicts the spin he was selling three months ago.
It'll be somebody we don't like, fer shore!
I heard that, but it's a laughable premise. (Why didn't O'Reilly call him on it?) All it will take for a Republican candidate to win is to replay (over and over) all his wild, crazy, utterly insane rantings--along with a few choice quotes from his 2000 campaign (like inventing the internet). Only Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, and DUers would vote for this nut.
Didn't Big Al the Environments Pal say in his book 20 years ago, that gasoline should cost $10 a gal? Ought to be pretty easy to spread that little tidbit around if he tries to promise lower priced fuel.
Yea .. he'll lower gas prices just like Jimmy Cater did
