AllofMP3 is illegal, says music industry

I don't know about that site, but I get my music from here. Haven't had any issues with not finding what I want. Pay a flat fee up front, then download music. $.10 per song. Whole albums are discounted 10 percent. It's a russian site. And legal, as far as I know. (:-0

I have zero sympathy for the music industry as they continue to fight the cassette tape. It sure looks to me like they aren't hurting for cash. If they are, maybe they should rape a few more artists. That's what they do best.

OR - just sell you CDs with CDBaby and you get almost the same deal without having to start your own label. ITunes, Rhapsody, all the services are included.

I assume you're using Windows. Edit menu:Preferences:Parental tab. Check the "Disable Music Store" box, then click the lock icon, enter a password, you're done.

As for retaining your card info on file? No different than Blockbuster.

That site is a complete rip-off and is one of many you can find. If you sign up you'll get a program to use the same file sharing network that free programs like Limewire and others use.

In other words, you can download freeware and access the exact same content for free.

Some years back, the RIAA 'petititoned' the Russian and EU authorities to shut down "AllofMP3.com" and after a 6 month invesytigation told the RIAA..."Too bad. They aren't breaking any of our laws."

Now the RIAA is trying a different tactic by engaging the IFPI to do their dirty work.

I just found out about allofmp3.com last night from a friend. The site looks great, super selection, the prices amazing.

I came here to FreeRepublc hoping to find out some facts on it. My understanding so far is:
- Some Russians run it.
- Albums by the Beates and Metallica are on it; and I'm pretty sure they don't allow any US company to sell their music electronically.
- The music industry says allofmp3.com is illegal and doesn't pay artists or record companies.

So... is this illegal for US citizens? And if isn't, is it still morally wrong? Or is this just a matter of a country having different copyright laws than ours? If Russia is really having the royalties go to artist, this doesn't seem so black-and-white.
