On a Marine Base, Disbelief Over Charges
New York Times ^ | May 29, 2006 | Carolyn Marshall

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif., May 29 — In this "company town" where everything and everyone caters to the well-being of the Marine Corps, there is no shortage of people, both military and civilian, who are willing to give the benefit of the doubt to the troops accused of unjustified killings last November in Haditha, Iraq.

Relatives and neighbors gathered near the shrouded bodies of civilians said to have been killed by marines in Haditha, Iraq, in November.

Thank you for your service to your country. You have strength of character that drive small men like Murtha to bitter envy.

Which is why we don't need the MSM any more. We have us. That was also why, when one of "us" says there is info that says it's "not good," we ought not put our heads in the sand, but gird for real battle.

Where ever the enemy draws the line.

That is a non-answer.

So what conduct would be permissible for our troops? Give me a simple answer.

My answer is: Whether in a butt kicking contest in a bar, or in a war against people who obey no rules, and they started the fracas, you just keep hurting them much worse, every time they hurt you, until they can't handle the pain anymore.
What's so difficult to understand about that?

I was later able to repost the 2004 presidential voting information for PA-12 without the bad link that got my original post pulled. Here's the post: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1601047/posts?page=99#99

OK, so an IED goes off on the roadside. What should the Marines do?

Well, considering the unlikelihood that the terrorists planted that bomb without being seen by those in close proximity to the site, and considering this was an area known to be in bed with the terrorists and considering the explosion was followed by small arms fire aimed at our Marines, I would advise them to obey the law of survival and shoot to kill.

What would you advise them to do?

Martinn -- that post was a direct quote from the Marine who actually served in Iraq and was charged with murder and later cleared. Something about the way I posted it is making freepers think that I was posting something about myself.

I'm sorry for the confusion.

You aren't the first; I should have posted that different so it wasn't confusing to people.

That isn't what happened. You didn't only caution, you didn't only wonder, you didn't only fear, you didn't only speculate. You declared and insisted the Marines calculated cold blooded murder and its cover-up.

No, I didn't.
