BOSTON -- Two local high school students have earned scholarships to West Point, but when it comes to awards night at their school the military is not invited.
Some said it's a big disservice to those who are ready to serve their country.
Newscenter Five's Sean Kelly reported that the principal of King Phillip Regional High School in Wrentham, Mass., told the U.S. Army it would not be welcome at a scholarship banquet that will be held to honor two graduates who have received scholarships to West Point Military Academy.

This is our local high school where my daughter will be graduating from next weekend with these 2 young men who are her friends.
It is so unusual to have 2 cadets graduating from the same high school. Most high schools would be honored. These kids deserve to be recognized by West Point but the school administration doesn't want to permit it.

Will Small said he's disappointed, but not bitter about his school's policy.
"They've done everything for me that's gotten me in there. They've provided the sports programs, the music programs, the academics that have taught me and gotten me the good SAT scores," Will Small said.

The Board of Education needs to get involved. Ultimately, it's their decision...

If they were queer it would create a holiday of celebration at the school.

The message the school is sending is that these young men chose a dishonorable profession. By turning their backs on honoring such an offer of possible sacrifice by these young men, the school is sending a message of dishonor for their decision and for their service.
Shame.

My brother graduated from a Ft. Worth HS in hmmm, late 50s. He was a National Merit Finalist and had an appointment to the Naval Academy. At the graduation, my mother had to hold my father down because neither one of these facts was mentioned and he wanted to storm the podium. The football heros got all the glory which is why I think my dad refused to watch football (well, except the year that KU was in the Orange Bowl) the rest of his life.

Not here. These are small towns, pretty conservative.

When my son graduated two years ago, there were two service acadamy appointments in his class, one for Annapolis, one for West Point. Uniformed members of both services were there at honors day, and were treated with respect and honor.
This is just a complete outrage, and should lead to angry townspeople marching on the school administration with torches and pitchforks.

I won't refrain. What a despicable bunch of POS would make a decision like this.....I can't wait to see that liberal wench who is listed as the principal see how she likes it when the rag heads are in charge....and in her case...it would be a fitting scenario.

All this, yet there are those who insist that kids respect authority.
I am not one.

To the grads, Congratulations!
Next question....does this school receive federal funds?????
If so, take 'em away...every cent of it.
To: Andy'smom
Its still Massachussetts.....
To: Andy'smom
ANY school district that does not permit military recruiters on site should have ALL funding cut off until the senior staff is fired and blacklisted.
What a disgrace.

I'm calling Romney's office. If he wants to be President he can start showing some leadership right here.
