I think it was the Decision 06 blog that was talking about this a few days ago. The consensus was if the Dem runs(former Governor) that the Republican is toast and they were hoping Murkowski wouldn't run again. Of course I remember everyone saying that his Daughter was toast to when she ran for Senate but she pulled it out.

The 'Rats have smartened up in Alaska. Berkowitz is going to run as Knowles's Lieutenant-Governor, allowing for a coronation. Sadly, Loren Leman has opted not to run against Murkowski. With a split field, Binkley and Palin could hand Murkowski a plurality renomination, so one or the other should drop out and endorse the other. I think we have an even shot at holding the Governorship as long as it isn't Murkowski. To underscore how important it is that we hold the Governorship, I point to Ted Stevens, who is likely to die in office. Handing Knowles a win means he gets to pick a successor (and I wouldn't put it past him to resign and allow Gov. Berkowitz to appoint him). This one's important, folks.
