Linda S. Heard is a specialist writer on Middle East affairs. From http://www.habtoor.com/anenemycalledapathy/l-1.htm
"Linda Heard is a British editor, journalist and columnist currently based in Cairo where she is a correspondent for the English-language Saudi daily The Arab News. Besides the writers weekly column in the Gulf News and regular articles in Shindagah magazine, her political commentaries have been published in Ahram Weekly, the South China Morning Post, Athens News, Palestine Chronicle, CounterPunch, Alternet, Online Journal and Outlook India."
...The writers greatest ambition is to witness an end to the terrible suffering of the Palestinian people in her lifetime and a viable Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. She would also like to see a multi-polar world instead of one where a hyper-power is able to ride roughshod, unchallenged.
splains a lot to me.

I have read her columns for years. Linda Heard is a doctrinaire Marxist. Just ignore her. She is not worth the bother.

My response to her ...
As you are writer of some erudition, I would appeal to you to consider several points.
You do not know that the Marines are guilty. Neither you nor I nor anyone else can know because the case has not come to trial and the evidence is not in. At this time all we have are confused reports and Hersey. Yet you see no problem in declaring our Marines tried and found guilty in the press. You have declared it so, therefore it must be so. American schoolchildren used to be taught that Americans were innocent until proven guilty. In any other context involving any other group or individual I am sure you would be appalled at the injustice before us, but - well - these are only Marines and good fodder for a political statement.
Secondly, the use of a staged massacre as propaganda strategy is not unknown or uncommon. It was practiced in Vietnam and attempted before in Iraq. It worked well then and it can work today precisely because too many Americans leap to judgment, think emotionally, react according to a political agenda rather than facts, fail to question the accusation and equally fail to place the responsibility for judgment within the proper venue - the courts, not the media.
Until such time as the Marines are found guilty in the proper course of justice, I will stand behind them against any propaganda from those who sought to kill them. Until then, to speculate is in itself an injustice.

MS. Heard should be eternally grateful to FR. Who has ever heard of this POS?! Without FR, her audience/readership would have been severely limited! LOL!

I would suggest to Ms. Heard that many brave men and women have died for the right to be "innocent until proven guilty".
