By Alastair Macdonald BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two British journalists working for U.S. television network CBS were among four people killed when a car bomb hit a U.S. military patrol in Baghdad on Monday.
American CBS correspondent Kimberly Dozier was seriously wounded and six U.S. soldiers were also injured, CBS and the U.S. military said in separate statements.
An unnamed U.S. soldier and an Iraqi civilian working with the military were killed along with the network's London-based cameraman Paul Douglas, 48, and soundman James Brolan, 42.
Dozier, 39 and a long-time reporter on Middle East affairs, was operated on in a Baghdad military hospital. Doctors were "cautiously optimistic," CBS said.
The crew had been filming a report on a joint U.S. and Iraqi army patrol through the Iraqi capital in mid-morning.

Yes.
(And welcome here, a very good first post for you.)
Thank you..
While my sympathies lie with their families on this Memorial Day I have to ask...
Will CBS report that they died at the hands of insurgents, freedom fighters, Saddam loyalists or will they finally, in this instance, be terrorists.
The best way is to use the Keyword function. I used CBS:
oops, my bad make that 3 times, 4 with yours.
Excuse me folks, what about prayers for the soldier that was killed excorting these CBS film crew on their morning shot.
Great question, but do you want to bet on the answer? Did you also notice who cBS went to for medical help for their employee? OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL !! I guess we can now say the press has preference over anybody else for medical treatment by the American forces....after all, she did take a bed that could have been needed by a soldier or airman or Marine, didn't she? This might be a new paradigm of thinking for all of us. Why are our tax dollars being spent on an employee of a company that hates America and promotes anti-American reports? That is the better question.
The CBS crew stopped the convoy and a suicide car bomber drove over and detonated his bomb. CBS put the convoy at risk by stopping to film their "routine" report on the side of the road.
It was hard to keep from barfing looking at perky katie, but I saw the same interview, Gracia(?) and Martin Burnham, and I too was floored at how forgiving she is, I don't know if I could be like her. It was interesting to see how they kept their sanity, making up menus, etc. I'm surprised their captors allowed Martin to keep a diary.
This evening I'll watch CBS and see what they will say about it. If they hold true to who they are, they'll report it as if Bush personally planted the bomb his self and waited in the shadows so he could pull the trigger his own self.
That is why I can't be all that broken up about anyone from the liberal media getting hit. The way they undermine this country and stab our troops back, the way they spin, lie and cheat just to force their own agenda without a care in the world about taking responsibility for their actions, I find it real hard to shed any tears at all to any of their pain.
I'll just have to see how they will spin it this evening.
the reporters that are basically a propaganda wing of Al-Jazeera.... yawn... stuff happens. If only Cronkite or Rather had such luck in 'Nam, we'd of all had a nice 30 year era of less BS.
I just don't get all worked up about journalist, especially from CBS/CNN/ABC/NBC/BBC etc.... whatever getting a piece of shrapnel.
In fact I'd like the journalists to have their best friends be "taken" to an interview, then ambushed and have their guts blown all over the road... not once or twice, but maybe 10-20 times.... then tell us how untrusting and paranoid our troops are.
How mean the troops are when they mop up the remains of their friends and see civilians standing around that didn't warn them....or helped the jihadists.
nope... I'll let CBS tell me how extra "special" their reporter was and how she's so fricking brave to go outside of the wire.... I'd rather hear about the brave young soldier, doing his duty at a thankless task, while dragging this reporter around that would have loved to have seen him or his platoon screw up, in order to have a nice juicy story about American atrocities.
I say again, "CBS new team hurt.... yawn..."
boo-fricking-hoo
"The CBS crew stopped the convoy and a suicide car bomber drove over and detonated his bomb. CBS put the convoy at risk by stopping to film their "routine" report on the side of the road."
This is a very good point. I certainly hope no more convoys will stop for media purposes. It is obvious that there are no more "routine" maneuvers in Iraq. No actions can be assumed to be safe.
Loss of life in war is a fact of life unfortunately, but maybe CBS and the MSM will get it that "Terrorists" are out to slaughter all Americans, even those who write and opine for the New York Times, etc. And.....you can bet your bottom dollar that when the "Terrorists" get the green light from the Democrat Party for open season on Americans, every American Jew, Gay, and Black person will be heading for Kingdom Come!!! Us peons will be saved for last!!! Can you imagine any sane American voter ever voting for the "Traitor/Treason Democrat Party???

Out of curiosity...why?
But if I had to guess, I'd say the person was a retread troll. The mods found out so it was bye-bye.
