Google (No recognition of Memorial Day on Home Page)
Google ^

Posted on 05/29/2006 6:14:15 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

As of 8:10 Central time, Google's home page does not acknowledge our fallen soldiers.

A couple weeks ago, I remember Google's home page noted the birthday of Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle.

I s'pose the defenders of freedom aren't as important to the Clinton-supporting Democrat party donors who created Google.

Tommy
Rudyard Kipling

I WENT into a public-’ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
The publican ’e up an’ sez, “We serve no red-coats here.”
The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, go away”;
But it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play,—
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but ’adn’t none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-’alls,
But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, wait outside”;
But it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide,—
The troopship’s on the tide, my boys, the troopship’s on the tide,
O it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide.

Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap;
An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
Then it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, ’ow’s yer soul?”
But it’s “Thin red line of ’eroes” when the drums begin to roll,—
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it’s “Thin red line of ’eroes” when the drums begin to roll.

We aren’t no thin red ’eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, fall be’ind”,
But it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind,—
There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
O it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind.

You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ’is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool—you bet that Tommy sees!

You are most welcome! Google to your heart's content.

I would note that AlltheWeb is great for pictures - it shows you the pic size just below the thumbnail, which is great if you're looking for a legible picture to post.

As I said earlier, Google away. Google makes no money when you search.

Just don't click a Sponsored Link (these appear to the right when you search). That's how Google makes money.

we should email fox news and let them know about this. see if they will make a story about it and maybe there will be a google backlash.

this is disgusting

i see them do artwork for shit like water day and other trivial holidays and they can't even put some sort of artwork for memorial day?

Dogpile uses Google, along with YahooSearch, MSNSearch, and Ask.

Check it out . . . go to Dogpile.com, and right under the Dogpile logo is a box that says "All the best search engines piled into one." And under that are the logos for Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.

Dogpile uses Google, along with YahooSearch, MSNSearch, and Ask.

I'm aware of that...it's just that when I use 'Dogpile' today, I get two touching graphics that honor our fallen troops. 'Google' can't be bothered. It's 'Dogpile' for me.

Google is now a corporation. If you check "About Google" there is a link for corporate contacts and Investor Relations. And under "Contact Us" are other avenues for contact.

And yet Dogpile uses Google.

True...but 'Dogpile' took a little time out of their schedule to honor the fallen...'Google'? Couldn't be bothered.

Whoever decides their page graphic is obviously a leftist. They celebrate some tripe like 'Earth Day', and have no recognition of Memorial Day?
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

They also allow Communist China to impose censorship on their Chinese search engine. It only stands to reason that a bunch of leftists led by large stock holder Gore would sensor any attempts at Patriotism.

Google's unpatriotic filter must not be working today.

Thanks, I just switched to Dogpile and left Google a nice note (NOT) when I uninstalled their engine.

Let me bumb this post: Okay, I've had it with Google - How can I best replace it?. It's time to dump Google, the biggest funder of MoveOn.org and who made algore a multi-gazillionaire by naming him a director. Google helps the ChiComs censor the internet and doesn't help the Feds catch child pornographers. The only way for Google to see the light is for them to feel the heat.

Suppose they couldn't figure out how to make the O's look like backyard Barb-B-Q's. Because to those insensitive rats that is all Memorial Day means to them.

complaining to google ain't going to do $hit. just email foxnews or drudge and beg them to do a story on it. if it has legs and there is a public outrage you can possibly see a drop in google stock and search market share. that's how you hurt them.

I was reading something by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, where she said of all human understandings / responses, the most healthy was SHOWING APPRECIATION.

But I'll wager that you're consistent; overall you just don't think it's important to show gratitude for what others do for you. I don't believe you can learn this- it's either part of you, or it's not. I mean, you COULD learn it, if you were motivated... if you saw the need. But your ilk sees NO NEED to say “Thank you.” Most Freepers TOWER over your small, ungrateful and thankless heart.

True, but if you use Dogpile, you're still hitting Google, so it's not really a boycott or whatever. Their big competition is Yahoo. If you want to stick it to Google, Dogpile doesn't do it. They promote and use Google.

I'll bet they'll find a way to commemorate Bastille Day or some other foreign holiday.
