PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush and their long-time friends, former Commerce Secretary Don Evans and his wife, are spending Memorial Day weekend together at Camp David. There is speculation in the media that the President may ask Mr. Evans to become the next Treasury Secretary.
Today, the President traveled to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, to give the commencement address to the Corps of Cadets.
SCHEDULE UPDATE: NOTE -- so far, new Press Secretary Tony Snow has not been annoucing the Week Ahead in his press briefings. Scott McClellan has stopped doing it regularly some time ago, and I can't help but wonder if it isn't due to security concerns.
_ Rwanda's President Paul Kagame will meet with President Bush in Washington May 31 for talks on development, AIDS relief, events in Sudan, and other issues.
_ President Bush will welcome President Manuel Zelaya Rosales of Honduras to the White House on June 5, 2006, to highlight the friendship and cooperation between the United States and Honduras, an important regional ally. The two leaders will discuss the expansion of free trade and economic growth, and continuing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
_ The First Lady will speak June 6 at the first 'Helping America's Youth' regional conference, at the University Place Conference Center, Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis.
_ Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi of Japan will visit the President at the White House on June 29, 2006.
_ President Bush will welcome Prime Minister Harper of Canada to the White House on July 6, 2006.

NOTE: Sorry for the unusually late Dose today. I've been having trouble connecting to the White House website. (Maybe they are doing server maintenance?) So I didn't get all the photos available. Will post them tomorrow.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: The Commander-in-Chief receives a smart saluted from West Point graduate earlier today. Assuming they went from high school directly to West Point, this year's class entered the Academy a year after September 11, 2001. They fully knew what they were signing up for at that time. On this Memorial Day weekend, I applaud their courage, patriotism and commitment.

The graduates laugh at a joke made by President Bush during his address.
Then to the serious stuff: The 2006 graduating class of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point takes their oath, becoming newly minted Army 2nd Lieutenants.

President Bush presents Cadet Michael Miller with a presidential challenge coin. A West Point public affairs officer explained that Miller earned the distinction of graduating with the lowest grade point average, an accomplishment that earned him the title of 'Goat,' one dollar from each member of the graduating class, and the presidential challenge coin.
