The former US general who commanded NATO's 1999 air war against Serbia predicted its southern province of Kosovo would become independent within months.
Wesley Clark told Kosovo Albanian leaders in Pristina he had confidence in their "strong, positive and visionary proposals" to find a solution for Kosovo, which has been run by the United Nations and NATO since 1999.
"I am confident that this issue will be solved very soon, and probably in few months, Kosovo will become independent and will respect the rights of all citizens," said Clark.
"I believe that Kosovo will be welcomed into the family of the nations and that there will be many opportunities for the citizens of this country to prosper, raise big families and make their dreams come true."
Clark, who is on a three-day visit to the disputed province, met Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Agim Ceku, who said Clark was a great friend of Kosovo, who stood by it in its most difficult times.
"He is and will always be honored by the people of Kosovo," he said.
Clark commanded the 1999 NATO air strikes that drove Serbian forces loyal to former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic out of Kosovo because of their brutal crackdown on ethnic Albanian separatists.

The Serbs are protecting their middle level police chiefs in Presevo....and The Mafia is protecting their own.....that is The Black Hand (off shoot from it's former organization)..The opposite Serbian Political hardliners are turning in the ones they want to for political reasons that the opposite holds true about the new generation......
The paramilitaries are looking for an excuse......to come back into Kosovo to create hell and havoc, the moderates just don't want to lose Kosovo based on it is their cradle of religion. The U.S. and internationals have an agenda that sides with the Albanians....the Albanians want a Greater Albania that they've dreamed of even before WWII., Serbs are the victims now, and actually have been even before 1999....on and on...............yep...POX...

I would pay money to support you for president. You already have my vote for the independent party. You are absolutely and totally correct. The Albanians would also be better off, but because of the generations old dream of 1948, they can never concide to this. One member of the FARK (Albanian professional commanders), Commander Drini, was assassinated by the Albanian extremist....Thaci, Ramush, Ceku group. because he wanted to just focus on Kosovo and work things out without the extremist.
The Albanians dare not challenge the PDK, AAK, LPK, LKCK, etc.....that is made up of the Mafia and old 1948 Balle Kombetar frame of thinking. The Serbs would have it running right in no time. However, the U.S. Administration and NWO would not have control of the agenda that was started in 1948 by the CIA, as well.
Bottom line, you have the real, only strategy that would actually work for both the Albanians and the Serbs.......
Once they get independence, open season on Serbs and moderate Albanians against Albanians.
