I see you're attempting to make a point, but how about this for an answer: because (and I'm being charitable) it's intellectually dishonest.

Why shouldn't I be able to use percentages any way I want to make my case better and to try and make something appear worse or better than it is?

Either this is sarcasm or you are incredibly confused.

You can. You've just done it wrong.

Maybe people have finally discovered that the constitution already provides for targetted national sales taxes in the form of TARIFFS!

A NRST subsidizes socialist/communist economies by giving them equal access to the most vibrant economy in the world. Tariffs take back the reins of America's economy from the hands of the globalists. Globalists...you know...the open borders free trade traitors that are motivated by greed and offended by nationalism.

It's been a while since I studied grammar; who 'don't think'? Me or thee? I'll think what I please and I think that this thread is shameless self-promotion by an escapee from DU and prime for zottage.

Even though an alert listener named Rob tried to tell Boortz on-the-air that his claim of the "highest paperback debut in over forty years" was an obvious error, the juvenile talk-show host berated the caller, and wouldn't let him get a word in edge-wise, and then pulled the plug on the call declaring victory in an on-air display of pigheadedness.

Ahhhhh ... did somebody's feelings get hurt?

Not really, it is an ongoing battle to get Boortz to tell the truth about things...

It is sarcasm. He is trying to make a point that Boortz's math is as suspect as his.

Boortz listeners will be able to go back to their regular routine of being told that they shouldn't be proud of their children if they are being educated in government schools, and that they graduation of their little Johnny or Suzie from such a school is really not an achievement at all, but should be viewed as an embarrassment.

LOL ... which school do you teach at?

Only a tiny fraction of books ever make it to the best seller list. Yet a book on taxes, of all things, makes it to the best seller list. Must be an awesome book to earn that much respect. What book(s), if any, have you authored? Did any make it to the New York Times Best Seller List?

But the point fails as he doesn't show what math Boortz is using.

For all I know Boortz *may* be correct. If he's using raw book sales and the book market has increased then he could be accurate. So although it's not #1...it could still be the biggest opening day/week in book sales in raw # of books sold. Or if Boortz is doing retail sales and taking out bulk buys (you know that's how Hillary had high book sales...just got some liberal book owners to do massive book buys).

Of course I really don't know what Boortz has said as I typically don't listen.

Good one! Rob's math and argumentative "essay" are clear example of why gov't schools are a failure.

Hey, I agree with all of your arguments about the Fair Tax vs. the Flat Tax--- for one thing, the latter has been proven to work and for another, the former will be easily raised again and again without people noticing (just as they don't notice the gasoline taxes at the pump but blame "Big Oil") because they won't see the tax on their returns.

But wasn't the Fair Tax book by Boortz and Linder much more successful than the Steve Forbes Flat Tax book (which made a lot more sense)?

The Flat Tax is such a simple, effective policy, yet all of these East European countries barely acquainted with capitalism have gotten it before us-- it's crazy. Why it hasn't been easier to sell in the U.S. seems to me to be a pressing problem.M

I blame part of it on the fact that Steve Forbes' looks--- he should probably have put Anna Kournikova on it with the subtitle-- Even Russia Has It! Why Don't We?

I'm not attempting to throw cold water on the flat tax, but why would it be any harder to raise that than the current income tax?
